Call up that friend you haven't spoken to since you joined the force. Let him know you have a couple weeks to play and you want to do all the drugs. It's essentially market research. I mean you guys get pepper sprayed because you have to know what it's like. Might as well experience the other side too.
Just read a book about Katrina - the only guys who didn't leave were the Coast Guard, and they paid a heavy price during that storm. Ballsy dudes.
Im a police officer as well and have been thinking lately about taking my career elsewhere (most likey qualify for the WQS and surf the remainder of my active life ). Too many moral conflicts and negative situations day in and day out. It seems that people in general have found a way to be incompetent in every area of life. Thankfully I have a life outside of work and I am able to turn off the "police officer" switch when the shift is over. Good luck man!
Had a load of situations where the arrestee wanted something like this so happen so they wouldn't be taken in ... Mostly fat *****es
Great life decision Braap! My friend quit the force after six months. Said almost every night some jerk would pull a gun on him. I cannot even imagine that. You're gonna love Coast Guard.
Good luck. Go into it with the right mindset. Keep your head on straight and keep your eyes on the prize. I'm currently paying my dues at a Merchant Marine Academy I hardly ever surf now.
Best wishes with the Coast Guard, Braap. Sometimes wish I had joined. Went into the Navy after college instead.
When I first arrived at my assigned Troop barracks as a young state cop, the secretarys first words to me, " Hi, Im Kathy....are you married?". The whole place cracked up laughing......
