Not sure if you guys know, but when you see the surfboards with the liquor logos on them, am I pretty safe to assume these boards are not glassed the same as an actual board from a surf company, correct? Maybe they only use 1oz cloth vs. 4 oz? And, no, I am not looking to get a Crown Royal or Budweiser surf board!! I was just wondering.

Saw a guy, all tatted up, with a Corona board with no wax attempt to surf once. Cold spring day, no wet suite. Didn't start or end very well...

I'm not sure. I do know that the boarts from the MMJ dispensaries use quarter-pound (4 oz) woven hemp cloth.

yea, i've wondered about those boards myself. Every now and then you'll see one posted up in Craigslist. It's never tho, "i've rode this board for years"; it's more like oh i've had this laying around and don't know if it float. Here's one kinda what you're talking abuut, i've emailed this guy several times about, no response. not even a marvel or superman fan, just that it looks in good shape for a 6' and it's $75. If only that dude put down his address, i wouldn't wait for a response but it might just be sh*t - who knows 00h0h_4ZArOxStACS_600x450.jpg

I scooped up a 'Monster Energy' logo'd board off craigslist for under $100, that was signed by Bobby Martinez. Turns out this guy won it in a raffle and didn't surf, so he wanted someone else to enjoy it. I did some digging online and found the board, and around 50 others were hand shaped in Japan to replicate one of Bobby's boards to exact specs. I can't remember the original shaper's name, but he's pretty well known.

Long story short, this board turned out to be legit and surfs awesome! I sprayed some clear coat over the signature so I can make it a wall hanger at one point.

I've had about 5 of them over the years, but never ridden one. I buy them cheap off craigslist and then resell them to fund my customs, even bought a Hollister board once. I felt dirty when I did that, but some newb bought it. Every beer board i've seen was shaped by Peter Pan, who is a legit shaper. I had to fix a number of dings on them, and they seemed like normal glassing.

That board looks in great shape... maybe the seller doesn't have Internet access at the log cabin (which looks pretty cool too!).

Yeah...these promotional boards are usually made by regular shaper and they are normal (cheap shortboard) glassing. I've seen boards "won" by someone usually at a bar or other point of purchase giveaway promo and sell them on the cheap or put into a shop on consignment. Normal glassing, generic shaping.

Little creative artwork and that $75 board could be worth $900. I wouldn't do it.....
