Any advice for living away from the coast for 9 months, due to job, out of the year? How to keep up my skillz between surf trips to indo? Need to be able to still land the rodeo flips I pull now. Carveboard? Weights?

Been living away from the coast for a month now. It sucks, and I wouldn't recommend it. Thank Haysus this is my last week here. My advice: lots of cardio and core exercise. Push-ups are your friend. Find a lap pool and swim.

Carver for sure. Not carve board. Just got new wheels on two of mine from a sick shop out west last night. Can't wait to try new ways of riding it to make it even more like surfing.

That's tough, that much time away from the water. Good for you for being proactive and trying to plan ahead. Embracing other physical things around you should help mentally.

It might be painful at first, but like all addictions, it gets easier with time.
Maybe find another physical or creative outlet.

First off, nothing is worth not surfing or being away from the beach. If someone said they would give me a million dollars to quit surfing I wouldn't do it! To me surfing is priceless and is really the only thing that brings any sort of joy to my life.

With that said there really isn't anything to keep you in Indo surfing shape. You can do things to keep in shape but you're still gonna need a few days to a week of acclamation when you start surfing again.

Work out, keep your core strength, keep your legs strong and try to keep your paddling endurance. One thing that really goes is your feet to board coordination. Skateboarding will probably help you best with this. Also paddle boarding. If you have a lake or source of water get a paddle board and just paddle around to try to keep your arms and endurance up.

Good luck, maybe really thing it over before you move away.
