Pro surfing sucks, so we should lower the bar, make it safer, and hold everyone's hand. Also move it to Hollywood, the home of the sissy boy. Why does everyone feel that the world needs to be safer? Not everything needs to be spoonfed to people by large corporations. Your child is not special, surfing at a pro level is not easy. That is the point.
It all for sales and marketing. Safety has nothing to do with it, imho. Surfing is no longer the activity of atypicals, it is mainstream, and that means money. Nothing more.
