Hell yeah dude. I was In the same boat. I went to my mothers in NY last night hoping it would be rideable but didn't expect it. Drank way too much and never looked at an updated report. Woke up and got out the door at 5 am(feeing like dog sh!t) fu*king scored. Surfed a little east of LB with friends and stopped in LB on the way back. It was pumping all morning and I'm sure it still is So good. And what made it better was that it was unexpected. You knew there be swell, but fugured it would be blown out crap
sounds like a lot of good or at least interesting stories from today hit up ocean city (more convenient) and scored till my shoulders wouldnt work, came home and heard/saw there was a touch of west in it. sprinted to sea girt and got one great one awesome day, high hopes for tomorrow and good luck to all, still feels weird constantly surfing after such a long flat spell!
i went south from monmoth county. got to ac at about 9am sunday. it was double up and rough so i didnt bother. drove twards cap may and found a 3ft right inside the egg harbor bay. after surfing that for an hour i headed down to the southern point. there was way to much current and the wind picked up.I headed back upto ocean city, it was late evening by then, so i got a room at the roach motel hoping to score monday morning. my hunch and the reports were rite, i scored big time. 2-3 feet over head and clean, with lots of side shore. The gards were making a sad attempt to keep us out of the water LOL. I got interviewed by the channel 6 news. the reporter actually ask me why i was in the water when the Officials closed the beach. gee i wounder why, give this woman an award for her top notch journalism. All the good waves were lefts giving the swell angle. It dropped a little in the afternoon the wind shifted and dropped a little as well to make some perfect head high a frames. I haven,t surfed on my heals that much since Costa Rica.
I've always been curious to check out those bay wavespots, but when it's breaking there it's usually firing at the ocean. How was it breaking?
Got in almost 2 hours today in Manasquan. Too crowded and too many ''Floaters'' out there. That's my term for people who just float around on a board, taking up space and not even riding anything. I'm not sure they even know how to surf at all. Hopefully those types will be emptying out this week. I'm gonna take a drive down the Parkway on Wednesday and try to catch something in Atlantic or Cape May County. I won't be able to do anything today. Just gonna try for a bunch for the rest of the week and enjoy my last full week off, before it's back to the 80-90 hour grind for the next 7 months.
Learning how to surf is hard man. Some people are at the point where they can really just get out into the lineup. It's all part of the game. All part of the process. All part of surfing. Let them have their fun. The beauty of the sport is that there's no rules after all, right?
Come October no one will care anymore. It can be triple overhead, and you can surf to you hearts content.
I was going to say we're are all these safety nazies when the water is cold. It was head high and supper clean, Pretty average for a hurricane swell.
