When the forecast is for chest to head high and clean for all of New Jersey, Where is the long riding wave in NJ? I know it may be different if a east/NE swell compared to a SE/South Swell. For E/NE swell, I'm thinking Holyoke Ave in LBI, maybe the Cove in Cape May. In the 80's and 70's 10th street Ocean City had a long left. Does that break any more? Sandy Hook had a long right on a south swell, but beach replenishment changed that. So for the coming swell, where is the longest riding wave?

i know of a place, that breaks a mile out to sea, youd either need a ski to get out there, but guys paddled it before.dont know if its a reef or an outside sandbar,if u can get out there,u can ride the wave all the way out until the beach.its only 1 spot that does this, and if u seen it before u know exactly where it is...but id have to kill u if i told u,so go explore!!

This forum has come a long way down. I am waiting three months until its the middle the winter and it flushes all/most the benny's and kooks out and posts like these won't exist in such number. That being said no one is going to tell you anything and they shouldn't either. If you don't know you need more experience exploring.

With a SE angle a a 13 to 14 sec period, youll be better served to concentrate on finding a spot that isnt going to close out rater than worrying about the longest wave.

ugh! Seriously...I agree w/surf solo! Why cant nj be cold year round! I would love that... 5mils year round...
This is a dangerous time of year cause the waves finiaaly get good and all the kooks that have been floundering all summer dreaming of a real wave flood the lineups and get in the way of the guys who can actually surf! Wish lineups were more regulated.. Kooks destroy some of the better spots cause thewy wanna tell their frineds yea I surf there! when actually all you did was get in the way and probably caught one or 2 closeouts and got drilled. Anyone who needs to ask where should I surf should go surf where there isnt anyone else surfing... Get your skills ans better yet learn how to hold on to your Fuc@@in surfboard so your not such a damn hazard!
Fuc@@in kooks Ill be surfing away from the crowds this swell cause nothing ruins the stoke more than a bunch of kooks..That are so barney that dont even know their Barney barney!!!

That would mean you'd be on my wave--dropping in. You might have a broken jaw after your exploration. LULZ

Geez man, you got a real attitude, not exactly what Gerry or Buttons would call the "aloha spirit". It was just and interesting question. And you're assuming I'm a benny or a kook, wow, that's a first. Get some waves dude and find the beauty in surfing. If you want to have an attitude go on the Parkway and drive north with the New Yorkers.

And this is why Jersey sucks...

You must be an A$$ to be a good surfer there....ihatelongbaorders....case and point. (Man you do sound really tough and cool on these forums though, and please spare me your "better hope I never catch you in a lineup BS, there's no chance in hell I'd be caught dead in NJ.)

    Stay off the mid-atlantic forum.

    Any who...,

Yes, this forum has "jumped the shark". I don't know if it's the new format that isn't necessarily regional or if it's the summer or what.

Regardless, my prediction is that this swell will be nothing special. Can't wait for some cold, south wind swell to set up our beaches and bring us some macking jersey juice.

Here's a link to the longest riding wave:

    http://www.lakevision.com/camera_12.htm

Can't wait to surf that wave on the 1-2ft SW swell forecasted tomorrow:

    http://www.wunderground.com/MAR/LC/460.html

    You did say MI, right?

Congrats George Melton for advancing in a tough heat against Tony, Gerry, and Buttons this evening. Just saw the scores on the Pro website. Would have been nice to watch the heat live, but the web broadcast was dissapointing like last year, actually non-existent this year (video/audio). Almost bolted downt there to watch, but decided to surf locally instead.

4ft, 13 seconds ESE swell, closeouts, likely, but warm water and offshore winds, and more swell on Wednesday, I'll take it!

The longest wave in NJ is the one that does not exist. Ability to ride the wave to it's fullest extent is more of a factor here than setup, alteast IMO.

Holy $$$$, only 24 more posts till Senior Membership. What the heck happens after that? Nothing. Why not Ultra Member, Mega Member, Super Member. The people with over 100 post, or over 500/1000/2000 deserve new, deserving, titles.

The longest wave in NJ? Depends on the day/swell/wind/tide. It could change by the hour on any give day.
