It's actually not just one person. This is a common scam. I had something on craigslist and got two similar responces.
Yea get used to it using craigslist, I get a email like that everyday. Its super annoying right, half the people email me about my items then I respond and they never email back, between sorting thru these scams and people who don't email me back ever I hate CL. The check will be fake, you will be the one to get into trouble first. I usually send back a email with a very disturbing picture of my feces =D
Even replying to a scammer's email, even if it is with a disturbing picture, is a bad idea because the scammer then has your email address, and can/will use it in future scams. It's best to just delete the email.
I just got a text scam from craigslist yesterday--- asking to post my posting on another site... what a mess, just trying to sell some stuff
I love the deaf and live alone part.... what happened to the fiancee? She must of got fed up with his scams...lol
Yeah, it seems these scammers come out anytime you are selling something for $200+. One thing you can do is ask anyone who emails or texts you to say something specific about what they are buying. So, if I'm selling some music gear I want them to tell me their favorite band... sports tickets - favorite athlete... surfboard - favorite surf movie...etc. Even if they aren't a spam-bot, if someone doesn't take the time to answer a pretty simple question, it's not someone I want to deal with the hassle of setting up a meeting time and place.
