Good grief, isn't the water like 60 degrees down there? Tomorrow don't even look at craigslist, take one of the six boards you have and go surfing.
Charleston harbor is 58F, so I would expect the water at the beach to fluctuate between 56 and 60, depending on the weather. It is pretty nice, especially for my leaky 4/3 full. By next weekend, I am guessing it will be spring suit time.
Not exactly ideal conditions today for someone who can't stand up yet. Tomorrow looks pretty damn nice. http://www.swellinfo.com/surf-forecast/folly-beach-south-carolina
you sir have no details on what my plan consists of or the type of boards i have aquired so you can't say i have **cked up...yet..well you can say it but it holds no merit, granted none of my boards are scripted beginner boards but they will all be used eventually..give up nah bra not in my nature we are cut from a different mold down here...
Hell yeah, even has brand new FENS!!! Frost, you def took a different route than most, but it's cool. We are men and whether we admit it or not, we go by the motto, "He who dies with the most toys wins". Good luck and get in the water! Oh yeah, try a 3/2 before your spring suit, you 'll stay out longer
yea im going... have some time off coming up in a week or two so hopefully temp. rises to spring suite level about the same time. I plan to snag a 4/3 this summer for next fall/winter. yes it may seem a little backward planwise but my first goal was to keep costs at a reasonalbe level..so here is the collection 6 3 open seas 40$ 7 4 bulger 30$ 5 10 wrv 25$ 6 4 rip curl 30$ 6 0 dunlop fish $129 6 4 Perfection epoxy $40 total cost for all 6- $294----- O'neill Hammer spring suite used once $30 no delam issues most yellowed with age all dings fixed.
Holy sheep $hit! That is all you paid for those boards?? I automatically pictured boards used for target practice, what are their conditions? post some pics of them
Looks to me like you already have a fun board, why get another? Someone else hit it pretty dead on when said that a fun board is a hybrid that doesn't catch waves as easily as a long board, and doesn't turn as well as a short board. I feel the same way, IMHO it's the worst of both worlds. Too big to duck dive and too small to really catch most anything you will see around Chucktown. I also get the sense that you have pretty much made up your mind that you need/want a fun board, because you keep returning to the idea of one. For what its worth, a long board really is going to be your best bet and best facilitate an easy(er) learning experience. we were all beginners at one point and many of us learned from mistakes that we made...not trying to be a d!ck, but a number of experienced people have given some really solid advice and it seems to be going unheeded. Buy a LB.

Dude, with all due respect, you've done all this planning and craigslisting and board fixing and internet posting and you're still not surfing. WTF? Try this: 1) Go see the shaper at Costco Surf Shop and pick up a Wavestorm. 2) Go to the beach. 3) Surf already. Stop planning and craigslisting and board fixing and internet posting and just surf. It's been a year and you're still not surfing. Seriously.
