Anyone out there have this lens and if so what is your feedback? It gets great reviews and won't break the bank for a 400mm. Right now I have the 70 - 200mm and it works awesome at local beach breaks, might need to get out and touch someone however. Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS (Image Stabilizer) USM Autofocus Lens
I look at other brands but I am partial to L series and Canon...you really do get what you pay for in most cases. BTW - A sigma 100 - 300 is over 1k as well and would need to put a 1.4X t-con on it to get out to the 400mm Sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX DG IF HSM APO Fast Aperture Telephoto Zoom Lens for Sigma SLR Cameras
Post the exact one you have please. I looked at one similar but it was older and got like a 2.3 rating vs the 3.8 rating of the Canon. Sigma 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 AF APO DG OS HSM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras Like how it says for Nikon?
120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG APO OS HSM is my lens.and since i dont make a lot of money on my pics. she works just fine.
If I had Canon I would have the EF 400mm f/5.6L USM in my glass inventory. Drives me nuts that Nikon doesn't have a similar lens. The 300 2.8 was great, the only time I shot at 2.8 was at dawn and at dusk, and these days with the higher ISO cameras you can get away with not needing as fast glass.
if youre gonna get the canon lens i'd go with the 100-400 and maybe get that1.4 tele convert. no problem reaching out and touching someone with that combo
Yeah, time will tell. Still learning to shoot action so I'll be working with what I have for now but want to get a new lens for Central America next summer. Then again, I am sure I will mainly film in HD.
