Just heard on the news that they can't try and cap the well till Tuesday ??? And if that don't work it may leak till Aug or Sept till they diagonal drill to relieve the pressure. WTF ? The Gulf looks like a toxic waste dump and the ecological impact is off the scale. Apparantly BP was repeatedly warned their fail safe systems were old and questionable. Now I'm no tree hugger and I like my gas affordable but BP should be held accountable if it is proven they were negligent. Alot of peoples lives may be completely changed because of this. Tax dollars should not be spent on this clean up.

plenty of oil threads to go on.this oil gusher is the greatest threat to the ocean i love in my lifetime.however, that was not the original subject of this thread.

    therefore,
    since i started this thread,

    looks like we're surfing again.
i was about to lose it.

    there's waves again right now.

yuppppp! Looks like a little mini tropical storm is gonna hang out off the outer banks! I thought this started happening early last year but end of May?! I'll take it!

They are calling this system - Extratropical. Since it is cold core, it doesn't have tropical cyclone characteristics. Nonetheless, it looks to provide a nice fetch of SE winds in our direction.

Ive heard that this could potentially be a named storm.. Alex? That's only if it becomes a little bit stronger, which I don't believe is forecasted to do so. Either way, bring on some waves! It's been far too long for a source of swell for this long of a time.

I was out yesterday in OC and the water was real green, smelled fresh, and a lot of seaweed and vegetation was floating around getting stuck all over me.

Let's hope it doesn't turn oily.. ever. Restore the moratorium!

for the ppl that work full time : how are you handing this?

there has not been ONE weekend swell in 2010. not ONE.

i was going to try for after work today, dead high is at 6:18pm (i'll be at the beach around 5:30) - (SUCKS) and the moon is full, so it will be a super high tide.

what the f*ck. i guess some ppl aren't meant to surf.

Going after work. Now that it doesn't get dark until like 815pm, I get like 2-3 hours in the water. The only thing that sucks is that the winds are usually better in the early half of the day.

ocmd seems to be picking up some size now... looks really fun and mellow... I'm holding out hoping this wind will kick down a little so we get a better line.

the forecast looks sooo good tho man, I'm so happy right now. it's been awhile since we've had something decent stick around for a few days.

I'm definately gonna be rollin into work late and salty this week...:D

it was the best day of the year so far in Chadwick.
got so much bigger this afternoon here, blowing away last week's way overrated swell.
it was unbelievably good when it got within a couple hours of high tide, size, power, speed and the first really pumping swell since it got warm enough to really enjoy it.
you could not stay out, surf as good or take the pounding from a swell like this in february.
    real surfing.
my board got to do what i got it for.
