    Hi. Making a Lost 5'5 x 19 1/4 x 2 1/4 for myself...

Looking for some help on laying out the fins. If anyone knows the layout measurments & toe/cant for this spec from the original 97 classic rnf (glass ons) , id appreciate your feedback...

Planning to either glass in the twinnies, either ply or make some glassies, or wus out for the sake of shallow reefs and go full fcs  , though both can have their disadvantages they both have their good points... You know i want to go glass in really though eh;)
I plan to template the Mark richards twin template, dont have that yet so if anyone has them or the template for the FCS MRTX or MRTFX im unsure the difference if any in shape?? or anyone who could draw around one of the fins , post that etc etc..

Would like to get this done in the next week.

    Appreciated

I don't recall that the Lost RNF was sold as a twinnie or quad, for many years. Im not sure that spec is going to be easy for you to get. Weren't they mostly set up as straight up tri fins back then? I've shaped at least 6-8 copies of the ...Lost rnf and the one I like the best is a 5`9 quad. Some of the tri fins were great as well. On the tri-fins I always preferred the small trailer fin and larger side fins. I installed only futures boxes and the 5" side fins/3" trailers I always used was the Gary McNabb fin set. Definately prefer the snub nosed templates like the `97 over the more pulled in noses they started to make later.

Mungo, Got your message asking for the fin placement details. Here ya go:

...Lost RNF 5'9" copy tri-fin. Side fin backs are 11" up from tail, back of fins are 1 1/4" off the rail, toe in 1/4". trailer fin is 3 1/2" up. This was my favorite of the tri-fin attempts. EPS/epoxy.

...Lost RNF5'9" copy quad. front fin backs are 11 1/2" from tail, 1 1/4" off rail, 1/4" toe in
rear fin backs are 5 1/2" up from tail, 1 3/8" of the rail, 1/4" toe in. Also EPS/epoxy. I like the feel of this quad pretty well. Nice and fast down the line with a smooth short turning radius that works in waist - chest high waves.

As far as fin cant goes...i'm pretty simplistic about it...I just install the Futures boxes as flat as possible, and the cant is built into the fins. Good Luck...

That helps a great deal.. Thanks for taking the time to reply..

Do you think there is much variation in the fin placement of the 5'9 & 5'5, should i keep it same as ?

    Similar fin layout

    Hye,

I was recently searching on swaylocks for a fin layout for a twin. I found this one.
It's looks very much like the fcs mr.

If you print this image you have to scale it ( approx. 130 %).
The fin design is for glassing on (the base line is on the number one).
