Recently, I have been looking at the Lost SubScorcher 2, but people have been telling me that lost boards get dinged fairly easily. Even though I would take great care of it, I dont want a board that gets huge pressure dings all the time. And if anyone could give me any info on the SubScorcher or more importantly the SubScorcher 2 that would be amazing. Cheers!

I had a Lost Round Nose Fish in the past (great board) and am doing some ding repair on a Lost Sub Scorcher right now. These boards seem like they are glassed about normally for a performance PU/PE shortboard. I've never seen a big problem with pressure dings, and think they just come with the territory of light poly boards. Some of the best boards i've had became loaded with pressure dings from the first sessions in HH waves and still lasted many years.

If you want a light high performance board and cant stand pressure dings, get it glassed EPS/Epoxy. It will be far less prone to pressure dings, as long as you dont mind the feel of EPS. I prefer PU/PE and pressure dings myself.

lost boards don't get pressure dinged any worse than any other brand using the same standard glassing schedule. I would say channel island's (UL) glassing is the thinnest I've ever had on a mass produced board.

order Hydroflex "natural" (epoxy over standard PU foam), if you want less pressure dings

I wish you lived near me, brother... I'd give it my best shot at changing your mind. My two daily drivers are EPS/Epoxy... nothing magic about the materials, just standard stuff. But the shape has been tweaked to accommodate the materials, and after a solid 3 or 4 years of steady use, they feel WAY better than any cratered, fatigued, stressed out, dead pu/pe the same age. The board in my little profile pic was a 6'8 EPS/Epoxy with a fiberglass stringer. Flexed and rebounded beautifully. That was the first EPS/Epoxy shortboard that opened my eyes to the possibilities... and it only got better from there.

Well...I don't live near you, but a good shaper that I DO live near has been talking up lightweight EPS core/Epoxy vac bag construction in the lineup as a way to get very light but still durable boards (I picked up one of his on the beach...liiight). I don't want to hi-jack this thread further, so i'll hit you up with a question by PM if its ok, and your inbox has some room.

I've had a bunch of Lost boards and I love them... But I do feel like they lose their "pop" quicker than others. All of them have just come to a day where they don't feel the same anymore. Probably just in my head, but I've always felt that way.

Glass jobs can change from board to board of the same company... If your getting your board off the rack- feel it out - you can usually tell a good glass job from another board. Another thing- if the board is 'green' or brand new- you will get more pressure dings since its not fully cured. Generally it takes a few months to fully cure. So find out the date when they received the board...

Also- I'm a big advocate of vacuum bagging a board- I would check that out!!

supposedly, most Lost poly boards now use Arctic foam. This foam is reportedly denser than US blanks foam and, thus, not quite as prone to heavy pressure dents. Lost boards made from Arctic foam will have the abbreviation "ARC" written with the dims ("AKU" means it was machine shaped).

one of the things that bugged me about my last lost board was they over sanded one of the (future) fin boxes. Nit picky, I know, but this made the base of one of my fins stick 1/8" up from the board.

If you get a deal online, you just gotta hope you get a good one...but if you're buying from a shop, look at the flange ridges sticking up from the boxes (the thin, raised lip hugging the fin base): they should all still be relatively thin and barely sanded down. If you see any that are inconsistent or fat, they might have been sanded down too far and the fin bases are going to protrude (pick another board).

there you go, trying to ruin another thread with your bizzare attacks. My post was relative to this thread and I think it was a decent contribution.

I said might have been sanded too far, because I wasn't sure. Couldn't you just have said: "Actually, the box is probably just too shallow"? Doesn't matter if the box was oversanded or "set too shallow", either way it was done wrong and is something a buyer can avoid. Anyway, if it's so easy to fix, why didn't you elaborate on that...everything is just so easy for you.

I surf ***...which is a hell of a lot better than anything in connecticut. So why don't you crawl back to your cardboard box, drink another 40, smoke another blunt with your young child and watch some more sponge bob...in other words: go away.

just so people don't think I'm quadruple posting, OceanO went on another one of his derogatory tirades...then deleted all of his posts because they sounded like a meth addict on a 2 week bender. His last post claimed he knew all "the boys" in my area and that he would find out who I was, etc, etc. He's also been sending me derogatory PMs.
