There's a couple reasons why/how that can happen... a new swell arrives from a different direction, a fast moving storm or frontal system and it's fetch swings the swell around from a different direction (less likely), there's an error in the models (least likely). So there's your answer, genius.
So, the Swellinfo forecasts are stating what the dominant swell is. When there are multiple swells in the water, the dominant direction may be East at one time, and then SSE swell becomes more dominant at a later time. Best to look at the data itself to become familiar with the nuances.
