52 and still on a performance shorty. No way I am ever gonna quit.Just love it as much now as I did when I saw the Pacific for the first time as teen.I know a guy that still gets into some good size on his longboard at age 71...that will be me for sure.I think it is all about staying in good shape.Life is no fun in general if the body is treated poorly.

WTF is "filipino martial arts"? Using bananas as weapons?? Having a large number of Immeldas shoe collection??

Tomorrow morning is gonna be better than waist high. 4 feet of southeast swell @ 9 seconds surely produces more than that in south Jersey...hell it does even in Delaware. If the swell models are accurate we might see a little waist high groundswell midweek as well.

As far as the subject of the thread goes, I've been predicting every one of the last 5 winters is the one where I pretty much lose interest in surfing once the water and air dip below 45 consistently. I missed all of Jan and Feb in both 2013 and 2014 getting surfers ear surgery, and didn't really mind it that much so I figured I'd probably end up dialing back mid winter surfing to pretty much just maybe a really good day or two. Didn't happen.....better rubber, relatively mild winters, good sandbar setups, no crowds, lots of friends surfing all winter that I like sharing a session with. ....

Best thread in a long time. Things. I learned: lb crew is in his 50's??? I always thought he was like 32. Tourmaline is fun but never drop in on the face tattoo. 'I thank Wayne' is awesome.

Getting a banana up one's tail pipe can be very intimidating and often the deciding factor in a hand-to-hand encounter. ; )

Actually, it was Kuntaw...similar to karate, and Kali...a form of stick fighting.

    Haven't tried using shoes...

I'm not too concerned about the future, more focused on right now.time flies, before you know it youll be surfing like the billion other times u have and think damn I'm an old geezer!

I don't think theres any need for a fitness regime or calorie intake lol, healthy eating.surfing is enough exercise.il still be smoking a fat ganja spliff before I poo down my leg and paddle out into some mean 2 footers

51 and surf whenever there is surf all year round in NH. Back tweaks out occasionally, but I can still put in a 3 - 4 hour session, and rip it up, like today, pumping here this morning :)

I never get tired of surfing, but I do get a bit choosier as I get older. I rarely surf waist high days anymore unless it's a warm summer day cause small waves bore the crap out of me, rather just drink beers on the beach. Also rarely go out if it's chopped up. But gimme clean chest high waves or bigger, and I'm still like a kid on Christmas morning.

I'm 48. Still want to be out there as much as ever. Injuries are piling up fast. Spending more time on the sidelines than in the water lately. Getting pretty good at surf photography in the mean time though.
