An alert from NWS woke me up saying Michael was a solid cat 4. Mother Nature is really showing her teeth this year. I know i'm repeating myself here but please be safe. Keep those you love close, and remember that your life is worth infinitely more than your property. Just grabbed this off the webcam that @Panhandler posted. Probably bigger than it looks.
Raining and the early gusts have started. Got the bath tub filled up and designated doucing toilet established, also dropped the AC to chill the house as much as possible. We still have a couple hours before it really starts to pop off. Thoughts are with everyone in the area.
LIVE: Hurricane Michael hitting Panama City Beach, Florida Hurricane Michael barrels toward Florida as 'monstrous' Cat 4 | ABC News
Looks like a beautiful area. I would love to check out the Air Force museum. From the sat pics I can see a SR-71. Pretty cool.
I'm on the beaches of Tampa Bay, Treasure Island. Got good surf yesterday but we are in no danger. See it at www.gulfster.com. Check the venice video at the bottom of the page and the AMI links at the top. Just 2-4 ft surge. My dock is underwater and its about to come over the seawall, no biggie. Best of luck to the Panhandle, That thing is wound up to take a big swing at you. Stay safe!
That's the Panama City Beach concrete city pier. It goes a quarter mile into the Gulf. Waves are breaking as far out as I can see and are breaking over the pier.
We are west of the eye by about 35 miles or so. Not entirely sure where it made landfall but looked like it was just east of PCB. I feel for those over there. We got really lucky here so far. Looks like the storm is moving quickly north
919 mb. Came ashore just 2 mph shy of Category 5. This is so devastating. The videos so far are heartbreaking, reminds me of Andrew.
