Family has a condo right on Treasure Island beach, Mansions by the Sea. So far it’s survived a bunch of hits and close calls but its 15 stories and all glass. Hairy.

That’s cool, I learned to surf on the Gulf and spent many years surfing those waters before finally relocating on the East Coast.

I saw drone footage of Mexico Beach and it’s complete devastation, so sad to see.

I haven’t been able to post because Internet is down at work. It really sucks to see what happens over and Mexico Beach, am parts of PCB. Mexico Beach and Port St Joe/ apalachicola are really nice and it’s pretty bad there now.
But yeah, 12 to 15 foot waves yesterday, and nothing today. Woke up at 5:45 this morning to get ready and get a session in before work, turned on the cams and couldn’t believe how the waves just disappeared.

So much devastation, but I too couldn't get over how flat it had become in such a short time.
Since my Navy days, that region - the Emerald Coast or "Redneck Riviera"- was where I had wanted to move and later retire. But wifey said no.

Right now, we're drinking wine (I took tomorrow off) and awaiting the remnants of now TS Michael. Numerous tornado watches and warnings. Patio furniture, grill, and multitude of wind chimes have been secured.

So far, we haven't seen Jim Cantore snooping about, so that's a good a good sign.

glad to log in a couple sessions of a storm named after myself. Yesterday evening was chest to head hi w a bit of chop, remnants for sure. wind was as 42mph around 1pm then died down to where it cleaned up by 4pm, so yea that storm was fast. Left work a lil early and took out my ol Perfection 6'4 fisch. Also rockin a bum, swollen leg - got cleat stomped playing soccer earlier in the week along with being stepped on the ankle - def felt the pain but hey that's how worthy it was yesterday. steep steep n pretty hollow waves made for the crowd at the washout, on some u could peel for 80 yards, others u wanted to pop out. not many wipeouts luckily, surfed til the lights cut out. This morning, took the 6'9 loehr out on 6th with a buddy - went without the leash cuz of the leg n nobody out there. dunno what's wrong with ppl, it was clean thi to waist, but maybe they follow SI too much which was saying knee at best. had plenty of fun out there, also worthy enuff to come in super late to work but it's friday n fck it. hope u guys up north catch the goods, we're gonna be dry down here for a while til maybe next wknd

Saw some side by side's. Mexico beach took a nuke hit. So sad. Compared to Flo, Mike got very little coverage. God bless the folks down there. Going to be a massive dig out.

Agreed on the coverage. They were very different storms. Almost opposite ends of the spectrum of hurricanes I have seen my lifetime.

Florence we saw from 2000 miles away. Watching and waiting for 2 weeks and then the "landfall" lasted about 36 hours.

Michael was a hellish fast moving beast of a storm. It made it all the way up the east coast in about 48 hours.

With Michael the damage was apparent almost immediately. With Florence the worst actually came when the storm was long gone and the rivers started rising.

Very different events but both will have a lasting impact. Been a hell of a season and we still have over a month left.

I’ve been close to a big tornado and that was more intense... I forget how crazy powerful these things are. Those poor people down there.
