hey so im making my own board and i want to put a custom logo on it, how do i do this? I was reading up and some thing said rice paper or something?? Or you can professionally get something printed but that costs way too much. What is the best way I can just print something out and get it on my board? What type of paper is the best to use or what other ways can i go about doing this?

I had a cutom print, which I designed, printed on rice paper by John at http://uhurusurfcraft.com/
He made the prints and sent them to rusty all for under 25bucks....
Jon has the ability to make any size print you want.

ya, it is super thin rice paper, and easy for you to use you can just use your home printer to print out whatever you want, i use rice paper logos for all my boards, the only reason why i would ever consider getting them printed by a printing service is for whole board lams, or screen logos, such as white logos so i can put them over a dark color lam. but other than that, it's cheaper... heck you can even use regular computer paper if you want to be super cheap about it. you will see a little halo with regular computer paper but as long as your doing a clear lam its barely noticeable just cut as close to your logo as possible. rice paper disappears completely.

Honestly if this is going to be an "ink rich" image you would be better off having John from Uhuru do it. The guys from rusty couldnt get the image printed onto thier rice paper with thier printers but John can print any design at any size.
totally worth it if its worth getting it done right... and you will be happy with the price.

I've always just printed logos out on thin, cheapo computer paper. I've even hand drawn things and colored them in with colored pencils. Just be careful as even the thinnest paper will leave a lump around the edge you have to fair out when sanding. Cut your border evenly all the way around, and it looks like part of the logo. Just know that an opaque paper over the stringer will show even on a clear lamination. Even some rice paper shows over the stringer. If you don't mind it, no problem. If you do, move your logo off the stringer and put it on the shoulder of the board.

I've had success taping a piece of rice paper to a sheet of regular computer paper and letting it run thru the printer. Word has tons of clip art that you can tweak to your liking. And as LB sez, there will be a lump that you have to feather with sandpaper--kinda like doing a drywall patch.

We just got a large format ricepaper printer to do custom digital logos and full length graphic lams. We're dialing the printer in to get the perfect amount of ink injected into the paper so it won't smear when laminating. Let us know if you need a logo and we'll do a set for you at no charge. The quality of the logo will depend on the file you provide. A 300dpi PDF is best for our system. Email us and we'll bang it out. No problem.
