    that's some scary stuff.thats why I never go on boats,ships,etc.im good when I can still see land,i atleast know theres a chance of getting back.when your out in the middle of the ocean with no land on the horizon,u have zero chance of surviving.im ok with the surf,its the vast horizon that scares me

    really? zero chance of survival? great comment after reading a story of a guy surviving...

    And you can typically see land roughly 10-12 miles offshore on a clear day, so good luck with that swim should something go wrong...

    Like anything in life, doing something safely, with experienced people, with equipment that is up to date and taken care of, is a much more practical and enjoyable method of living life versus simply avoiding it because of ignorance....
