When you are tired and getting ready to call it a session, catching an unexpected reform and extending your ride all the way in. It's like a gift from Poseidon.

Then... Going big, getting pummeled, spin cycling, ragdolling, waiting to feel the tug of your board at the end of the leash, coming up gasping for air and taking another one on the head... That makes me know I'm alive!

When a wave is setting up and you fade off your trim line with some power and power stall under and into the tube. The point your approaching the lip and you know what is about to happen. Conversely it sucks when you get greedy on the snap/stall and you get sucked over.

Lots of good ones. For me if were talking connection it's like peajay said, finding that perfect trim and just making the most out of the wave. Also I really enjoy heading down the line, preferably on a bigger wave, and pulling a nice carve down the face towards the beach just as the wave is closing out. There's that second where your like oh doodie this things going to come down on my head, but when you make it it feels pretty good.

The rush of speed you get on a big drop and then making your way back to the top of the wave and ... making that drop all over again. That and long waves that catch you by surprise as sections keep magically lining up in front of you.

deep barrels that I know I will never make. Like someone else said, finding that trim line and just letting the wave do its thing. Making it around/over/past that section that just closed down in front of you and getting back onto open face. Wide open faces that allow you to just carve
