Seems like he's on the shoulder but still...I don't think I would put this on my to-do surfing list. Nt., for whatever reason can't see thus embedded on my iPad so here's the link just in case...LINK
yea i saw that during the contest. that was heavy stuff. it doesn't look bad but that's literally one of the worst spots to be there. apparently he had a two wave hold down after that as well.
wow...i saw that from a different perspective, prob. from a boat. the thing i don't think this video gets across is that he was like halfway up the face of the wave when he bailed. the gopro nose mount really doesn't do justice to the steepness of the wave.
cool as a cucumber no fear in his eyes. wowwww….do you think amount of time he was underwater was edited?
I wondered that too. I don't know why you would cut out how long he and the camera were really under water. I'd like see how long it really was. But the video shows he was only underwater for like 10 seconds from when he dives off to when he surfaces in the whitewater. For a guy that can hold his breath for 4 minutes underwater, that's not much.
i don't think that they inflate & deflate all that simply. if i recall what i read about them correctly, the suit is powered by a single use co2 cartridge, so it would have to be replaced after each use & is really only meant to be a back-up for when things go really bad, like greg long's cortes bank wipeout last december (when the suit failed to inflate).
go to the mavsinvitational site and check heat review.he was right at the peak, not the shoulder. the other board is Jamie sterlings from Hawaii.the inflatable suits have 4 co2s,so u just deflate and go back out.tht gopro doesn't show the half of it,it was a 40footer square on the head
