I just ate a giant chicken cutlet. My wife makes the breading with a special spice that gives it some zing. The chicken was prolly raised on steroids and Monsanto crops. But you know what? I don't give a flying f@ck. Dat chicken was tasty...

northerncanyon you said some valuable things regarding nutrients and supplementation but as far as vegan diets go you don't know sh*t.
Are you just parroting what Michael PoleSmoker said, or did you not do some research of your own.

"It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases"
    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19562864

Also Dr. Kim Williams, president of the American College of Cardiology and chief of cardiology at Rush University, advocates a plant-based diet.

I think these people know a little more about nutrition and optimal health than your undergraduate degree in biology and your ****ty personal experience.

Hey Northend, how do you feel about said supplements for optimal health via vitamin pills versus obtaining via natural foods? I have read some info that the vitamin pills aren't actually providing what the body needs based on how the body breaks down the concentrated pill versus through natural enzymes found in whole foods (I may be recalling the exact point incorrectly but hopefully you get my drift). At 44 I find myself being more aware than ever about my diet.

Arch, being a Vegan is no fun. Balance...healthy stylee.

CyC, I meant to ask from an earlier post how you (or your fine lady), make your venison burgers.

Kiddy your usually pretty smart about most things but I got to disagree with you on this. your overall health is probably 70% diet and 30% exercise. I'm an accountant so you can blast me for not being a certified nutritionist lol.

    How so?
You say it as if I'm depriving myself.
I have zero urges to eat animals or dairy.
    It's all about perspective.

Iv heard that as well. Not sure of the truth or facts behind it. But from my standpoint, is rather get what i need from natural foods. So ill believe it.

And as much as i think stank is a douche bag, i bit to agree with him 100% on his post about protein in beans and nuts and processed meat being like cigs. I refuse to eat red meat or any processed meat. Try to do it organic when i can but that's nor always an option and a guys gotta eat. Chicken, Turkey, fish. That's the only meat ill eat. Not a vegetarian or vegan obviously. But i try to get most of my protein from non meat sources

In fact I find the smell of eggs revolting. I think it's disgusting to eat sh*t filters like clams and oysters, and garbage vacs like crabs and lobsters.

Chickens (and birds in general) operate at about 107 Degrees F
consuming flesh that is used to those temperatures is not good

I am not super fit, by any means, I eat some garbage, but that is something I have learned about dieting

grassfed beef, medium rare is so super delicious, but I try not to eat it too much

pregnant and nursing women kinda neat meat, or else tons and tons of plant proteins

Archy, we are going to be pining for the days of lobster when mealworm burgers are the norm

Never heard that one. You got a link or something explaining the why. Or could you explain it?

Iv actually been playing with the idea of going vegetarian for a few months or whatever. Just to try it. I'd probably still eat fish. I don't think i could ever fully cut out meat, just what meat. But if what you mentioned is true it might give me the kick in the ass to try it.

And i finally read this whole thread. To those saying some people can eat whatever they want blah blah. You may be right to a certain point. As far as weight goes at least. But there's no denying that all this processed crap is bad for you. Sure you may not gain the weight, but your not taking care of the body that way.

Not going to tell anyone how to eat. But for those who don't, i do suggest learning about what you put in your body and making informed decisions based on your wants/needs.

Find me a scientific study that isn't flawed or funded by the dairy, meat, or pharamecutical industry that refutes the claims by the ADA. Go Ahead
In fact the ADA receives large grants from big pharma.

Never said climate scientists are sh*t, and I never denied the climate isn't changing.
I call bullsh*t on the politicization of climate change in general.
Oh but 98% of all climate scientist agree it's man made?
Okay give me the list of all 100% of climate scientists. I guarantee that the percentage is much different than what is spouted by the politicos. The scientists who come to different conclusions or find flaws in current research are usually ostracized and denied further funding, and criticized as quaks.
Also majority consensus to derive a conclusion isn't science.
400 years ago 99.9% of scientists agreed the earth was flat.
Galileo was ostracized and called a quak too.:D
