Hi Everyone. Will there be waves this weekend? Will the water be warm? Will it be crowded? Where are the best spots this time of year? Will I need a wet suit?

i just heard that there is going to be insane upwelling and the water temps will drop back to the low 40s so bring your heavy gear. BUT as a backlash to the California 100k/yr+ salaries of their lifeguards, all NJ towns have abolished their lifeguard units!!!!!!

We have an interested pressure gradient setting up in the Central Atlantic that looks to try to push some ESE longer period swells our way. Kind of an un-ordinary setup, where the Bermuda High type scenario is way to the north. This should probably send us some consistent 2-3-4' waves for next week, but you know how those E longer period swells go... Close out city usually.

Last night I had a nightmare... solid chest to head high groundswell... out of the East... serious upwelling... no wetsuit... a few rideable waves started breaking right at the perfect tide... as the lifeguards went on duty.

Oh, wait... that's this coming Memorial Day.

Let's talk about getting past the badge checker and getting on the beach for free.

What is everyone's best method? Under the boardwalk? Jump the rail when no renta cops are in sight? Just walk on with your board while looking at the ground? Look right at the teenage girl say hey and walk on? Run into the water when you see the renta cop coming? Get there right before the checkers come on?

What do you say if she asks you for your badge? It's in the car, can't wear it while surfing i'll lose it? It's at home? I don't have one and don't need it? Make a fake one using a color copier, packing tape and last years pin? My dog ate it?

yep. won't matter if the water if freaking cold and nobody is swimming cause at 10 o'clock on Saturday the whistles will start blowing. F&cking douchebags. Got into it big time the the local lifeguard head 2 weeks ago. they were recruiting on the boards and I said ' maybe you would have better luck if you hired people who want to save lives instead of acting like nazi cops'. needless to say, he wasn't too thrilled since there was a ton of people around his booth.

Badge checker??? Wth, this is what you guys in Jersey have to deal with, carrying a badge/card? Pretty much all surfing beaches in DE are State Parks so we have to get a sticker for the car window. Or a surf tag, but at that point, if you do not have a fishing pole in the water, they will kick you off. Well, regardless, summer is here and we all know what to expect, so suck it up and DO IT!

More taxation without representation. Same as speeding tickets. Same as the higher taxes you pay for hotel rooms (transient population doesn't vote locally, so hotel guests pay out the arse: 19% room tax in NYC, for example, wtf).

Agreed: America has become, without question, the land of the over-taxed & over-governed & now-restricted freedoms & increasing loss of rights; so much so that our nation's founders would think they'd moved back to merry ol' England if they took a look at us today.

Pass another friggin' law from the professional career politicians feeding at the public trough !!!!!!!!

    Makes me sick.

reading some of those responses really makes me think. If we are all paying to get on the beach don't we have a say in how many and where the surfing beaches are located? Taxation without representation is exactly it. You HAVE to pay and you get no SAY. Later in life I'm going to run for local office. Start with town council, then eventually move into the mayor role of one of these shore towns. I will be the first to open more surf beaches and reduce the regs on surfing during the summer. I'm also going to build an artificial reef.

What do guys think of my avatar for my campaign flyers?
