Definitely a guy to watch. His surfing at the Reef Hawaii contest last year was pretty amazing.

Idk what yall think but i dont think that deserved to be a 9.3... yea his first two turns were real nice but the 3rd was just an off the lip to a fall to a winning score?? Kelly deserved it

26:40 minutes into this video is the replay of the 9.3 where he fell on the last turn. IMO getting three perfectly executed frontside turns isn't diminished much by digging a rail on a nothing fourth turn.

He's an incredible surfer in the right waves. He's not great in the smaller stuff, and surprisingly, considering where he grew up, he doesn't have a consistent enough game in heavy barrels to ever be a champ. But on a powerful wave with a face to carve, especially a right, he's as dangerous as anyone. The first two turns on the wave in question are beautiful. He should do well at Bells, too.

u do u know teahupoo is his home break right?yea that 9.3 was more like a 8.7 if he finished.the first 2 turns were real nice.bourez got that power stance where hes a good power surfer, but he can ride the barrel too.hes just not a smart competitor, hes been on tour for the past 8 years, maybe more and this is his first win.he comes close,he makes the quarters a lot,but never win. didn't expect to see him take it but he deserves it more than ke11y

I know where he's from, hence the "suprisingly, considering where he grew up". Great surfer, not a great tube surfer. Never has even made it to the quarters at Teahupoo.

2013: knocked out in second round
2012: knocked out in third round
2011: knocked out in fifth round
2010: knocked out in fifth round
2009: knocked out in first round

with the exception of making the semis one year at pipe, he hasn't gone far at any of the pure shack waves on tour. and he qualified in 2009, he got in the quik events as a wildcard a couple times too i think.
