no macho bravado clown, you are an ASS, please quit the ocean. I know enough about you to know you are a clueless hazardous goon

your gear is clean and in top shape? what does that even mean to you? I cant even?!

and they already have laws that say lifeguards can prevent people from entering the water on big waves days...BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU. fight that law thats already on the books. fight it by being a swimmer instead of a fkn kook hazard

and no worries, I aint coming to chucktown, I mean, why would I...ever?

You don't get it man. Listen to the people here who've been there and done that, it may save your life. You can check your equipment all you want. ****e breaks no matter what you do. Whatcha gonna do then?

So you don't want help? So you get in a bad situation and a lifeguard or another surfer comes to help and you're just gonna wave them off? "No, I got this, I'll either make it or drown, just carry on".

Say you go out and drown then they try to pass a law, how you gonna fight that? Last I heard ghosts can't vote.

But hey don't take my advice (or the advice of all the people on here who are far better and more experienced surfers). You've obviously had all this figured out from the beginning. From now on when people ask me about learning to surf I'll just tell them to look up all your threads, you're an expert on the subject.

    Stupid double post...

    O Micah...

Hey whenever this double post happens it asks me if I wan't to stay on this page or leave. If I click "Stay on Page" I get the double post. If I click leave it usually doesn't double post. Did today though.

    Anyone else see that?

He's not being selfish - he's trying to help you avoid killing yourself.

Jawn, I agree, he should come with a warning label: selfish and clueless: beware, I care more about my (little itty bitty) steez than others' safety or being a father

    Yikes!

    Uh...

Mr Masked Shark dude... Apparently you and SS have a prexisting difference of opinion that I was not aware of. I ain't been here much for a while. I'm sure that will all sort itself out.

Yank - My brain didn't go back that far to make it to Spitz. Yer correct. Or maybe Johnny Weissmuller.

Trying to turn this threade back around... Swimming is vital. The power of the sea is beyond our comprehension. That's what's great about it, and what's bad about it.

What was it one o y'all said... Surfing is a sport where the playing field tries to kill you?

    Peace

    :)

It was only with the hopes that an inflated ego might keep him afloat.

I highly doubt some of the other methods used today of keeping frosty afloat are effective. He needs to know the risks to himself and others. (i can count how many of yuns already said it) And understand that you have to expect the unexpected in the ocean and be prepared for anything.

That being said. the man needs swim lessons. Not sixteen D1cks swinging at his face.

it's gonna be hard not to sound insulting or condescending, but here goes

    - i think metard and mis said it best already
    - you beat your daughter a body board...i don't even know what that means...kinda like my kid how to smoke heroin and saying, "see, but i won't get aids this way"...i mean, what are you teaching her right now, at best that to have no accountability for oneself and total reliance on others for any f'up is ok
    - doing anything in the water constitutes a water sport...doing a water sport requires, at minimum, basic knowledge of water
    - you're missing all the best swells because of your own (at this juncture) ignorance
    - any kind of progression with your hobby is seriously inhibited by your own chosen (once again, at this juncture) lack of ability to float, tread, or swim

    Dear Frosty,

I respect you like pushing the envelope, and living on the edge and all that stuff that gives us the adrenaline rush, the stoke, the feeling of getting seriously pitted. Many people have had their boards ripped from their hands duck diving or during a wipeout in the barrell. Many people have also drowned standing in waist deep water getting sucked out by powerful rip tides. Lifeguards have lost their lives trying to save these people on rare occasion. So if you are out there rolling the dice often enough, it might come up snake eyes. I think you are a cool fella, but don't be that guy. If you have some body fat, that and the salt water will give you enough buoyancy to learn how to swim, float, and tread water to drownproof yourself.

    Peace and waves,

    sisurfdogg
