Never met him, seems like the typical instagram/social media lord who can nose ride and takes artsy photos... we have many of them on the Island. Again, never met him..

Hipster or not... the short board single fin looks like fun (something like a rusty bali, not a mid length)... wouldn't mind picking one up. Cant judge a hipster by the board they rides you guys..

A board that length feels fantastic. I'd say most people would probably have more fun on something like that than whatever is hot off the shelf.

Ride it in good size surf and it's gonna be nimble enough to do some fun sh*t, my 8'1" is a blast and responds well to big surf but catches ankle slappers too. Can haul ass too

    Hi, Ben.

I'd have to say that while not all midlengths are funboards, all funboards are midlengths.

I'm certainly NOT knocking the guys who enjoy riding them, but they're not for me. Too short to truly noseride well... too long to get any snap out of... and if they're of the single fin variety, too much spinout potential for me. But the only guy I enjoy surfing with, and has more style than I could every hope to have, ONLY rides midlengths, and I totally respect his surfing talent.

But for me, I think a retro single fin in the 6'2-6'8 range is more fun than any midlength 'cause at least they tuberide well, even when it's smallish, but barreling. And anything a midlength can do, I can do on a fish, but better.... catch anything, ride big surf, go fast... plus hard turns, tuberide, go vertical...

Hi LBCrew. Man, your knowledge of surfboards is great. I honestly got nervous a while ago when you went mia for a bit. The technical aspects you discuss make it interesting even to people like me who don't go that deep with it.

For me, the mid length is great for waist and less...imo, a BB shouldn't be ridden if I have to kick to make sections, so that's when I hop on the 7'6 and just cruise. Last time I was out on it, there was this poor feller on a lazy boy or something, struggling with life, and I caught everything i paddled for. We started chatting and the poor guy seemed so disheartened when I told him I was a boog.

if you get down with longboarding and alternative shapes, you'll enjoy this guys films. i can only speak on these 2 though, never seen the others. picaresque was from like 2009 and i watched it again and again. sight/sound is a bit newer but similar. watching either one of these makes me want to go grab my log and shred some 2ft peelers!

I kind of agree with you, but probably if you didn't want people to talk about his fashion you shouldn't have posted a clothing ad.

I actually liked sight/sound. It was well shot and it did it wasn't all the usual mind blowing breaks that people generally just fantasize about. You know, there was Maine. Also, from what I heard, Mikey was in really bad health and there was a pretty good chance he would not surf much again. He may be much better by now. And though I dislike vintage camera artsy crap, I do like little more 'lifestyle' videos because they show other cool stuff (surroundings, locals); thanks to internet I am kind of visually desensitized to 20' barrel riding.
Hipster surfers are annoying but Mikey is more than that and he reps EC with pride and ability on the LB scene. Guy can surf.

The ron jon / hurley sticker on the board made me wonder about how cool this cool guy really is.
