Place is teeming with smoking hot chicks and guys that surf. My best buddy is in a fraternity there and he surfs as well. Not going to name drop any surf spots, but all I can say is be careful where you go and respect the lineups. There are plenty of empty sandbars around that area, you just have to look.

Don't go. its expensive and not worth it. honestly man it's just an inflated degree there and the price doesn't make it worth the degree. If you want to get a degree worth your money near the coast go to uncw, Stockton, flagler, or college of charleston. Im serious man Monmouth is a rip off i'd never go to that god forsaken place, plus its impossible to transfer credits from that place.

Johnny has some good points. Credits are hard to transfer. The only reason my friend is there is because he had scholarships because he was adopted. Tuition is nuts. I would definitely recommend Stockton more. I'm transferring there when I'm done with this stupid county college and surfing spots close to there. The beach is 20 minutes away if you do 80 on the parkway ;]

I just graduated from Monmouth last year and had a great experience. For surfing you can't beat it around here. Ton of good spots close by and its a pretty quick drive to long island for those winter days. They have housing directly on the beach for juniors and seniors. For 2 years I could see the waves from my window. No driving necessary.

It is definitely expensive but they give a ton of scholarship money. I ended up paying about the same as my best friend did at Rutgers. As far as the degree goes I had 2 really good job offers before I even graduated. (and 2009 wasn't a great year for graduating) Career services and my professors were a big help during job hunting senior year. Not all the programs are the same though and I would definitely look into it more if you know what you want to major in.

I graduated from UNCW in 08 and def agree with Johnny. If your looking for a surfing school then thats the place. UNCW has one of the top surfing teams in the country. And the women, well in 2008 it had a 1:4 ratio of men to women, so for every man there was 4 women. Do the math.

I had two cousins graduate from Monmouth, one in 2002 the other 2004. During and since I've spent a lot of time up there partying, chilling, and surfing. If your only looking for girls and waves then your in a good spot, the campus is less then a mile from the beach (but its not as good of a break as the surrounding area) and the women are def sexy. But again like Johnny said be ready to dig real deep unless your riding a great scholarship. Both my cousins agree that tuition is ridiculous even for in state (mind you my out of state at UNCW was still less then Monmouths in state) but neither would trade the experiences they had at Monmouth.

Congrats on your acceptance and good luck on YOUR decision.

I totally agree, from the sounds of it you WILL fit in if your a rich, under achiever. Have you even looked into the education of the school. I went there and I can tell you some majors are better than others. Meaning, you will get your money's worth. One word of advice, COLLEGE IS A BUSINESS!!! Never forget that. You pay tens of thousands of dollars to get an education, chilling and surfing is secondary. If that's what you want, then YES, you can chill and surf. Keep in mind if your going to waste your time partying and fail out anyway, do yourself the favor. Take a nice big loan and do a sick surf trip around the world, guarantee you will be happier. Otherwise, BE SMART (this is why your going to college, right), take a tour of the school, see what people in your major are doing. Are they happy? I went there on partial scholarship and then loans. I owe A LOT of money, make sure its something you think is worth paying for. I had a great time because I made the most of the situation. I studied abroad and surfed more than if I just stayed at Monmouth. Do your research, Monmouth is small and private (high school style classes), where as Rutgers is large and public (Huge lecture classes). Do what YOU think is best!

i go to monmouth now. if you consider being a surfer to be in the water all year round hitting it on every swell even if theres snow on the ground. then there are very few "surfers" at monmouth. lots of wannabes and kooks that rep the image but cant back it up. sexy girls tho i do have to admit. dont go to huge parties, they get busted.
as far as waves go, its been sick, some flat periods but it gives u time to study. dont be a d bag in the water otherwise you will not get jack. give respect to gain respect

but im transferring to brookdale so im not wasting my time anymore, and get the hell out of cold jers

I got accepted to Monmouth yesterday. They gave me a large sum of money off for good grades. Im deciding between that and UNCW. Waves are better in NJ but NC is warm and the girls are hot.

Is the school itself fun?? Parties girls exc. Would get boring if not cuz waves are not good all the time.

i go to monmouth too i know exactly what you're talking about. ive met plenty of "surfers" from pennsylvania or west jersey who would never paddle out in anything bigger than 3ft. theres a handful of guys that actually surf and youl know who they are cuz youll see them in the water

as far as parties go, the frat parties there are nothing like what you see in the movies but the girls are hot and its a good time. greek life in general is pretty **** and the reason i say that is cuz i live with a couple of guys who are in a frat and there is so much drama/gossip between dudes youd think it was a tv show.

i wouldnt recommend working while you go to school when you first start out unless you have to. if you do end up working you wont have much time to party if you plan on getting good grades. i worked my whole freshman year but its what allowed me to get a car and drive to all the breaks in the area. even though its only 1 mile from the beach, riding your bike in january blows.

regarding academics, it all depends on your major, but as someone mentioned earlier the career center is helpful with hooking you up. classes are small so its easier to get in touch with professors and such. i love monmouth but def do your research and look around and decide what your priorities are. feel free to pm me if you have an specific questions that i didnt address
