well if nothing else i certainly got swellindecks' attention. one time i picked up a chick in sydney in may '80 by picking out blondie on a "juke (remember them?) box. she thought i was soooooo cool. which, of course, i was.
Morrisey is a ***. Though that one Smith's song That which is never be That is too sooon.......is pretty good. Blondie was cool, though. AC or Philly maybe. But I need a ton of drugs to go to NYC for that.
^I think you mean "How soon is now?" love The Smiths (own the box set)...morrisey's solo stuff is pretty good, too. Can barely tolerate Blondie's music.
I agree...there aren't many singers who quit absolutely amazing bands 25+ years ago, could have just coasted and made millions as a solo artist, but Morrissey actual put together solid bands as a solo artist and wrote a lot of good songs. I know 99% of the people are like...you're nuts....Morrissey is a huge ***. But huge unapologetic Smiths fan here.....liked all four guys, especially Johnny Marr is/was an amazing guitarist. Ask Peter Buck if you don't believe me. I know...Peter who? But I wouldn't bother seeing him now...he's playing a bunch of Smiths songs and it would just make me sick that it isn't real thing 30 years ago. Had chances to see them and passed them up. I think I remember one weekend in about 1986 going to see "Squeeze" over the Smiths...anybody seen that commercial "hmm I wonder what other bad decisions I've made" Yeah...Squeeze....Tempted by the Fruit of Another...boring assed band. I did see Blondie in the early 1980s. Kind of liked their sound on record, Clem Burke was a really cool drummer but they were boring live in their prime...cant imagine sitting through it now.
wow. i'm impressed. before her playboy centerfold or after? for those who say...yeah the smiths are good but morrissey not so much....the man has a catalog that makes the beatles look like a garage band. for random happiness try speedway/arms round paris/every day like sunday/staircase at the university/national front (!!!!!!!!!!) disco and so many more. the man has not sat idle. and he is adored by other artists; michael stipe for one as well as mr. buck. jackson browne just did a photo op w/him. also, just because he wants you to think he' gay; well, he may or may not be but important to remember one of his biggest supporters (coaches) was nick (RIP) ronson; the lead guitar player for spiders from mars and the cornerstone of is david bowie gay? marketing phenom.
oh and hanna - something IS squeezing his skull. the man is wack and absolutely no-one to be trifled with. and he's quite well-directed too; the $ from the shows goes straight to PETA. yeah he shows up in ac now and then; i caught the last show at the borgata. he seems to attract ruffians to his shows. makes for an interesting night.
I'm a huge MOZ fan even though I don't like u baddy I would go with u but up north . I've seen him 9 times and has walked off stage in 3 of those shows during first set. He's a ***** but I still believe he is in the top 20 of song writers of all time even though Johnny marr wrote the smiths. You will never see blonde and him together like this . Get an extra tux and I'll get there brah !!
