Is that a wave??? followed by "oh guess not". lol. swell was pretty weak by me today. However, they were great long shoulders for the longboard...
No waves here. Chilling on beach. Most common thing here was pregnant people in bikinis. Cover up that baby! Jeeeez
I didn't talk to anyone for an hour and a half... Then finally a guy said to me, "If the wind goes offshore it could get really good." I go... "yea." But in my head, I'm saying... "75 degree water, glassy, chest to shoulder high and 5 guys out IS really good... to me."
Well not everywhere was spot on. Called for shoulder high.... Was lucky to be knee to thigh. But the waves were plenty good for the long board.
Grammar zing! My favorite thing to say to people I don't know in the lineup: "Man, it would be so rippable if it were 2-3 feet bigger!" I get some of the funniest looks with that one.
Was surfing Ponce Inlet yesterday and some redneck with 2 inches of space between each tooth on a 8-9ft board catches a 3 foot wave and comes back hooting and hollering about how nice of BARREL that was.....
Wow people must really be Jonesing. "really good" YES, it was waist to chest but it was so weak. You had to work so hard to get a turn even on a fish. Maybe it was fun on a longboard but this swell was soo butt its not even funny. I guess by summer standards it was ok but man I need some real waves soon. This weak wind swell is just not cutting it. Is it me or does 2012 seem like the weakest year for surf yet. The winter was absolute garbage now hurricane season...come on. By now we would have had at least one swell with juice even if it was winded out.
I totally and completely agree with your observation... it seems like over the past 3 years, winter and summer has been getting progressively weaker on delivering surf. Yeah sure we are getting days but its been on the downturn in my opinion. as far as this past weekend... there wasnt a waist high wave to be found at my beach... but then again we're tucked away in the west corner of Long Island...
