so i'm coming up on my 3rd year surfing, but have been limited to only surfing in the summer months since i've never had a wet suit... i usually surf in south jersey (margate/longport) and sometimes up in monmouth county. im looking forward to getting into surfing much more and just purchased my first wet suit to start getting into the water sooner than past summers, and keep going through september and october. wasnt looking to drop too much money on my first ever wetsuit so i just picked up a 3/2 billabong foil off of wetsuitwearhouse.com - thought this would be the first place where others might share in my excitement.

Yeah a 3/2 will get you threw till Mid Oct depending on how fast you get cold. Also if you dont plan on surfing past oct get a set of 3 mil booties.

thanks for the tip - i'll definitely need to pick up some booties for after the summer ends. how about for the rest of may/beginning of june - i know this has been discussed before - but are you guys still wearing gloves or booties? when do they start coming off?

I am not wearing gloves now and you will probally have to wear boots for atleast 2 - 3 more weaks. Its all in how one can tolerate the cold.

Some sumers you can be in boardshorts by mid june and some you can still be in a full suite. It all comes down to the weather and how good you can ignore the elements

Get yourself a hooded vest for under your 3/2 with good boots and gloves and you can extend your season on both ends an additional month or so. Definitely worth the investment.
