Hey everybody, I am new to this forum and surfing. Im from Ohio, so ive never really done anything like surfing, except longboarding and alot of snowboarding. Anyway. Me and my bro were trying to go to so cal and learn how to surf for a few days. We need a good beach thats not crowded and good waves (doesnt everybody). So we will also need to rent boards. Where should we go, and when is the best time to surf (like july or june)? Where would we rent boards and potentialy lessons? About how much will a board cost and perhaps a lesson?

    Thanks for any help

    bienvenidos und vilkommen

june and july may not have ideal surf (compared to rest of year, but it's all relative to what you are used to) and even more likely, will have crowds pretty much most places, esp on weekends. that being said, there is a surf camp run by corky carroll at bolsa chica state beach (just north of huntington city beach) that may be helpful. you can rent boards at huntington surf and sport outlet at corner of pch and warner, among other places all along surfside/sunset beach stretch of pch north of warner. enjoy...

    hey now

it varies. here's a link to the various places that will rent you a board and/or get you some lessons.

    http://www.stockteam.com/surfrent.html

these are all within 3 miles of each other and all on pch or pch adjacent.

    enjoy!!
