Hey all.

I have a early 80's or late 70's signed and shaped phil edwards hobie 3 stringer longboard.
Trying to find any info on it( year, value, model). it is marked 175 on the top and 0329 on the bottom. It is a 9' 6\" triple stringer yellowed board. Would love any help. Thanks!

Also, the board is for sale.

IMG_20140608_153609_588.jpg IMG_20140608_153615_075.jpg IMG_20140608_153618_406.jpg IMG_20140608_153850_602.jpg IMG_20140608_153855_478.jpg

beware of old 'replicas' of old long boards; you know, a new board that just got old as opposed
    to an antique.

I'm wondering if the leash plug was original or not, right through the stringer...wow!

Yea that type of leash plug is newer- it actually goes with the fin box. The hole for the leash string goes right thru to the bottom/inside of the fin box. It's a newer style fin box- so I would say the board is newer- unless they added the fin box at some time- but the would be apparent with the glass job on the bottom.

I have a replica dewy weber with the same fin box from late 90s/early 2000.

Maybe the fin box will help you id the year better...

Btw- looked at the pics and the fin box looks like it was original with the board- thus newer board

I don't know about all that. I think you just go around telling people you're a surfboard appraiser.

I've only met one. He knew surfing history and said he knew a lot of folks in the industry. It did not seem like he knew how to surf though.

Hey man, you're pretty much the go to guy on here for surf knowledge. I mean you brought the one who shall not be named to our attention. Can you imagine what this place would be like without him? They should make Butterfly Effect 2 based on SI and that surf fad thread.

If you ever needed references just tell them to come to SI.

Thanks for the responses. Heres some photos of the numbers. IMG_20140707_163917_401.jpg IMG_20140707_163955_377.jpg They are located on the center stringer about 2ft up from the tail and it does look identical to the 90's board in the photo posted earlier, minus the tail being wooden. It also has the same two 1/8 inch stringers and the 1/4 inch center stringer.
