Hi everyone. I've always wanted to surf and I will finally get the chance to next april. I am planning a trip to California. I looked at other places like Australia but the price of plane tickets is much more than just flying to Cali. My main question is will it be worth it for a beginner like me to learn out in southern California during the spring. I have seen mixed information on websites saying spring is the worst time to surf in California and others say that its the best time of year in certain areas. I was hoping to get some advice on the best place for a complete beginner to learn in april. any info is appreciated.
or if anyone knows of any places that have great surf conditions in the spring other than california. That would be cool too.
Hey man, where do ya live? If you live within driving distance to any break I'd start there. Shell out some cash for a lesson since they'll provide you with proper gear and some mediocre instruction. The first time I ever surfed was at Swamis in Encinitas, CA, but that was only because I was in San Diego for work. Gotta admit, feeling like you're part of the SoCal surf culture, if only for an hour, was cool.
california has a ton of beginner spots. my favorite moments of learning to surf in california were: 1) the quality waves 2) the first fight i saw over a wave 3) the first fight i was challenged to over a wave.
this is what you do mean mug everyone and think you charge harder then everyone. bring a 6 pack of steelies and your gnaraloo board and if you really have a hard on buy a roy suart make sure to call the locals kooks and to back the **** off you peak or youll blow up there honda Prius like the ira. show those cali boy you dont play because at the end of the day they cant fight anyways.
okay bo you over stepped ter is yo mama your sistar probably. come to cape romain and try to paddle out you will get beat down for being a rainbow pride cali boy. stay jackin it in san diego.. btw the lip will permanently spit your head hair ,the barrels are grinding so hard here. but down worry you wont make it to the line up, someone will see that tourist season is always in season be prepared to be hit by a truck. anyone from carolina can charge your cali waves better then you. you want to start something? be at cape romain in 2 days bring your boys ill bring mine.
i'm getting the feeling that california is not a very friendly place to surf. I live right outside new orleans, the only things good here are food and football. Had I lived closer to a place to surf I would be a damn good surfer by now. Its just something I always wanted to do. I'm not gonna spend a week of vacation fighting people for waves. I'm just looking to meet some cool people, learn how to surf, and have a good time. This may also be a deciding factor on whether I move to the coast somewhere so I can do it as a regular weekend routine.
Still wankin it I see ?when you step up and end the war of Californian aggression come to our break the bulls and tigers need fed. Don't go to California rhcp come and surf Maryland and below we will welcome a fellow southern with respect and treat each other like gentlemen.
