My 1.5mm chest/back longsleave rashie just doesn't keep me warm in the summer around mid-Atlantic in July/August. Dawn patrol sessions and I'm shivering. Should I go for a 3/2 shorty or what would be the best option? I've been able to get a really extended annual timeperiod out of my 4/3...I'm worn it up to 68 degree water temp and was comfortable (not hot) and also worn it as low as 48 degree water temp (with hood, boots glove) and was actually warmer than my summer surfing in my 1.5mm rashie mentioned above. So for OCMD/Del areas for summertime would 3/2 shorty be best option to buy?

i would grab a 2mm springsuit either longsleeve spring or shortsleeve full. perfect for those chilly mornings in the summer. i used to have a shorty but it was pretty uncomfortable so i picked up a shortsleeve fullsuit and love it.

I guess I'm not interested in fullsuit (full legs) for summer. Although I'm sure its the best for warmth, I don't want something to have to wrestle in and out of like my 4/3. I do many summer day trips with family, I'll do several surf sessions throughout day while taking breaks to spend time with kids and wife, so I don't want to to deal with wrestling out of long pants legs and getting a sandy mess to deal with. I thought the insulated rashie would be the answer but it just doesn't keep me as warm as I'd like. I guess I'm either looking for a warmer top or short legged wetsuit (long sleeves optional) and not sure which route to go. Got a $100 spending limit as well.

the rip curl e3 spring suit's nice. its short legged and long armed and its real nice in the summer when it gets cold in the morning. It's also nice to wear on those cloudy windy days where u have no sun beating down on you and it's not necessarily a good "beach" day. it's also real easy to get in and out of unlike what some of the long legged suits other people mentioned

Longsleeve springsuits are best cuz you can surf them late in the season. Easy on and off cuz short leg. So good for summer. Just throw it on even if its wet its not a big ordeal. One with taped seams and upgrades is 150+ and Id reccomend it. Warm into oct and put it on early in season too.

Depends on what is chilly thats making you cold. If its air temp thats getting chilly but the water is still warm, a long sleeve jacket is great. I have the Pyscho freak jacket and its perfect for late fall sessions where the waters still in the 70's but he air at night is dipping into low 60's with some wind as the sun is going down.
Now if the air is warm but the water is getting chilly a 2mm short sleeve full is perfect. Easy back zip suit just something to keep the legs warm in the chilly water while having the arms exposed on a hot day .
