Hey guys, so i've been surfing for a couple months and i feel pretty confident in my ability to ride a longboard( an 8'0), and ive been wanting to switch to a board that can get me more speed so i was thinking about a fish, plus i live in south florida so the waves are pretty small and mushy, and recently my friend let me borrow his 6'0 fish and it was so much more different than a longboard and i feel like i have to start all over. i'm able to catch the wave and stand on it but im used to having my feet on the board so the pop-up is pretty hard compared to before , and when i do get up on the board, it feels super wobbly. So what board should i get next? i feel like the 6'0 is too small for me but i really wanna be more maneuverble and have more speed. also i'm 16 5'8 and 151 pounds and a dude. Thanks!

Went from a 8' fun to a 7'. Thing about 8' is the pop kinda allows you to drag a heel, gotta kick that habit for an SB. Gradually down sizing is key. Sort of evolve rather than revolutionize. Dude just do what feels right. None of us will ever be brad anyway so who cares. Enjoy life. Speed is a time piece.

i think before you try specialty boards you should be accomplished on a standard thruster/hpsb.
theres scads out there to buy; me, i like firewire chubby cheda.

Go rent a few different types and size, this might be the best advice you can get..

fish would be a good choice for s. fla. If its truly a fish, and you are 150, and you can catch waves and stand up on it, then the 6'0" is not too small for you if you just commit to it for a few sessions. The super wobbly part is just you being used to a board two feet longer.
