Any chance that if this new system steers a more northerly course and hits Florida, will southern NC recieve any action from it?

Not unless all the computer models are wrong so far. most have it skirting southern Cuba and making it into the gulf by the weekend. High pressure system is keeping it on a westerly track.

Poor Gulf residents, no rest for the weary.

ya, gulf coasters need to watch gustav very carefully. Its too early to hit the panic button for sure, but indications are for a major hurricane entering gulf coast waters.

check the forecast models for gustav:

We need to hope that it doesn't follow the GFDL track (green).

man i hope so. this summer was a bummer. seemed like every hour Gustav was updated & predicted to move more toward the middle of the Gulf...why even get any shred of hope up?

latest track pretty much centers the storm right into Southeast Louisiana / New Orleans area. They need to be on their toes.
