well, my 5'9 Al Merrick is getting a little too small for me, and seems to bog alot. I weigh about 120 lbs, and am 5'8. I surf smaller, mushier waves, with the occasional 4-5 foot swell.

Im looking to buy a shortboard that performs well in smaller surf, but can also handle bigger swells for the fall/winter season (New Jersey). The Al Merrick Whip seems like it would fit my taste, but seems a little bit too pricy, and I dont know what size would be ideal. Can anyone help decide on the dimensions my board should be, and a good model I should look at?

brian wynn makes great boards. he can shape anything you want from a performance board, groveler, long board, or fish.

he shapes in south jersey. great boards, great guy.

i highly recommend giving him a call, he could definitely get you dialed in.
