Thanks on the contcts, but I open my eyes when wiped out or held under. I know it's a bad habit, but I do it w/out thinking. So, yeah, used to ride Ringwood lots but not lately. I wear Rx Oakleys when on mtb.

If anyone has had Lasik, though and has any two cents to share, bring it... I read 3 months for surfing and do w/ caution (ocean swimming 1 month) and 1 month for mountain biking and 2 weeks running to allow complete healing and avoid infection/complications. Normal activities can be resumed pretty soon. Figured I'd have to time it right to deal. I am not one to follow doc's order and rest post surgery or when injured. Kinda hyper and foolish I guess. I just didn't think i could deal, but would love to be able to see when surfing.

My wife used to surf in contacts. She had Lasik in Feb '08 because the waves were great and she had no contacts to wear. Her 20/20 vision now is a miracle. She did not have any complications or infection but it was hard for her to be patient with the healing process. If you want more details send a private message.

I too have pondered Lasik . It would make my life easier at work and at the beach . I go threw a cpl pair of glasses a year and I am not a contact person , something about sticking my finger in my eye kinda weirded me out.

Thanks! I will definitely be in touch to hear your wife's experience. The information I found was on a California Lasik and it gave the time you'd be down from every sport you could imagine. I just can't be down for long from much; it's not my nature. I really want to find as Lasik surgeon who is active so I know they get where my anxiety lies. Thanks again!

You'd look like a jerkoff but your eye health is definitely more important. :)

Costa Del Mar Wave 580s are a glass lens and the most scratch resistant lens on the market. If you take "decent" care of your sunglasses it's worth the $250 IMO.

I have Oakleys for the water... Sun glasses, hooded rashguards, or hats are a must for long sessions out here. I might look like a jerk off but I'll still be surfing while you going in.
