Hey everyone my name is Seth Mattox and two of my friends and myself are trying to start off a new brand brand of surf board called Troll Surfboards. We just wanted a little feedback of what you as potential customers might like from a surfboard. I should let you know that both of my friends are doing the shaping and one is designing some pretty sick designs for the boards, but as i said we just wanted to know what you guys would like as far as length width how thick you want it, basically what the best board for you is.... Like the song goes... "If you wanna surf in Texas, you gotta have a quiver in the van..." Texas conditions vary so much and so often. If you are looking for a start, longboards and fish work pretty well here, but we have shortboarders, hybrid riders, etc. Not much help, but thats how the conditions are here in Texas
One other thing that you might consider is building your business buy getting boards to the surfers at your local breaks first. Shaping is not something that you can just walk into. I'm guessing by the nature of your question that you don't have a lot of experience. You would probably do better to get the first couple of hundred boards to your local guys, get their feedback, do R&D, tweak your designs, put up a website, get some product reviews from reputable surfers, and then go out on a forum like this to present your product. If you have already done all of this, then disregard my whole statement.
Yea bro my boys have been doing the shaping since they were younger and we are currently working on our website and getting that up so now were in the marketing process trying to get feedback from potential customers and show that we are a personal company.
