So i just picked up a new 6/5/4 Cypher wetsuit. Previously ive owned a 4/3 syncro that was a large. I found that it had too much extra behind the knees and stuff so when i go this new one i thought i would go with the large short. The new suit is a chest zip (first one ive own) and seemed increadibly hard to put on and even harder to get off. Once its on it feels good not too tight but the struggle just seems like i may need and XLS. Y'alls thoughts. And before you say "maybe youre just fatter" i say i havent gained any weight since i last wore my 4/3 in Dec.
the first chest zip does take some getting used to...you'll get used to getting into it and you definitely have to Houdini your way out, but it's the nature of the chest zip...
Getting out of a chest-zip always blows. It continues to be the most exhausting part of winter surfing for me. If you go with a bigger size you run the risk of getting flushed more frequently. I'd stick with the tight one and a high degree of patience when trying to exit the suit post-session.
Last year was my first year with the chest zip and it took me forever to get everything on and off but this year my change is a lot faster. It's just something to get used to
Suits also break in with regular use...chest zips definitely are something to get used to but they have a break-in period. As well you're dealing with quite a bit more rubber as well...
Thanks for the advice. I guess it just time to test it out this weekend. Tomorrow is looking really nice in southern maine.
New to chest zip this late fall with a 4/3. Threw my back after trying to get out of it. Now getting out of it is like second nature. Will never go to a back zip and sold all my bz's. Love the cz.
