My son rides a WRV 6'8 flexlite funfish at 2 5/8 thick and 21 1/2 wide. He loves it. I recently looked at a WRV Stingray that was at Cinnamon Rainbows that was in the 7'6" range and 23 wide and 3 thick but am still researching..

Welcome new dude! I'm going off grid again for a few weeks, so I'm using your hello tread as my see ya later tread.
    Peace!

    Welcome.
I started surfing almost 3 years ago at age 57. So it's not too late as long as you've kept in shape over the years. Remaining fit and active doing the things I enjoy have always been important to me. More important than a "career".
Always enjoyed the water whether it be swimming, SCUBA/skin-diving, sailing, windsurfing, fishing, and kayaking, but did not take up surfing until later. Started on an old, used and beat-up 8-4 Gnaraloo Fatty that I picked up from a local VB surf shop. Currently own several boards in the 7 to 8 foot range but am now mostly using a 9 ft Bill Frierson performance long board that I bought in May. Found it used on Craigslist. Easy to paddle and is good for most conditions we have here.
BTW my oldest son, now 22, recently took up surfing and has been using my old 8 ft Tim Nolte Board. He was fortunate to know several friends who have been surfing for a long time. I look forward to surfing with him soon.
