I was given a Nixon Supertide as a gift just over a year ago, when last week it up and conked on me. I thought it was a battery issue and brought it to a jeweler friend of mine, but after swapping out a new battery no dice. It appears the internal electronics are all messed up.

Has anyone had a problem with this new generation of Nixons? Idk what the warranty status is, but there's no reason it should be dying after 12 months. I had a cheap-o Shark Tide Freestyle for 3 years that didn't as much need a new battery.

Ive had sooo many nixons over the years. Everyone has had a short battery life. However, I purchased the Lowdown S a year ago and it still seems to be going strong.

There customer service is lame now too. They used to be great with honoring warranty and replacing watches no questioned asked. Now its such a process and headache.

Nixon watches are cheap useless garbage. Better off attaching a medieval hour-glass to your wrists. If you payed 1 cent for it, you were ripped off.......bigly.

Thankfully I didn't spend a dime on it, but it was a good watch and seems like it died WAY too young

I recommend casio for basic surf watch. If you have more cash to burn buy the new ripcurl watch. For fashion, I like the 500$+ dollar watches tag, omega, etc.

Never had a Nixon but have had a shark for years with no problem, really using it in the water mostly

I would send it back, regardless of the warranty... just include a nice letter explaining everything, and that for such a high dollar watch, would expect it to last longer...

yup, the perennial classic $20 waterproof Casio F-91W is unbeatable for price and functionality. I wouldn't wear it to the prom, but it does the job in the water.

Umm...the boys are talking tide watches...tide....as in water going in, then going out, not cheap antiquated watch that allows you to buy and guzzle down quarts of Muscatel in one sitting. Can I have some....??

    Nixon = garbage

Timex = value (the watch last)

Use the inter web for your tide needs

I got a shark tide watch for $30. Lasted 3 years so I bought another one and that's going strong at 2 years. Bought a Casio Solar tide watch for $25. It doesn't give you the exact tide time, but it shows high, low, rising and falling so you can have an idea within aboot a 1/2 hour... I have beaten the shit out of the casio and it keeps on ticking... Plus no batteries!

I suggest you get rid of the Nixon, even if it does work. I would not been caught or seen wearing one. They are so "low class", so "bottom-dweller" watch ....I'm such a fashionista!!

I have a watch on my phone.

I have tide charts on my phone.

Now all I need is a waterproof phone.

And free wifi from the jetty.

Yeah, that's exactly what I need.
