Nothing. I've never heard such ridiculous garbage in my entire life.
Localism in Rhody? LMAO. It is his home break. CTer's have no home break. Give me a break. And localism is irrelevant anyway here thank god. A moronic post such as this tells me you don't surf here(as you admitted). Honestly if anyone here on the ec this serious about surfing move off the ec. You sound absurd talking about surfing ec waves like this. Just another tool trying to sound core. I ride because it's fun and so do many others. I enjoy the serenity of the ocean and the adrenaline rush of riding a wave. I enjoy the beach/nature and all that has to offer. It's kind of messed about how people develop this "ego" and think their such hot ****. That's why there's all this talk about how great winter surfing is for many on here. A way to feel better than the "masses". To feel elite. Rather than just enjoying and having fun. You're not getting paid to surf. Get over yourself. If you were getting paid to surf, you wouldn't be here. And you could never get good enough to turn pro without surfing elsewhere. You're lucky enough to be in san diego. I'm suprised you even have time to post ehre.

Yes the people who act like you described are complete jackasses. Just like the guy who flips out and takes a basball bat to your car or pulls a gun when you disrepect him in traffic. Complete lunatic.

The only reason not to advertise spots is it increases crowds potentially at that spot. You're blowing it up. Where were you when surfingwasteland was showing pics DAILY from green mountain surf break and another quite fickle sand break in gansett? Both relatively uncrowded breaks by rhode island standards? You should have given him crap. This guy is just naming spots. Posting pics EVERY DAY at dawn from uncrowded breaks is even worse. At least surfline has the descency just to post crowded spots(as of right now anyway) Those fickle breaks he was posting EVERY day was blasphemy. The reason their not crowded is because their fickle. If he posts pics daily and says "GET ON IT" at that specific break when it's finally working well/good sandbar then people who drive around and check spots to get rewarded are screwed since now there will be crowds at that break.

RIsurfer, ignore people like this, just don't name spots and it's all good.

Hi guys long time listener, second time caller.

Shark Hunter, I'll tell you what surfing is about. Surfing isn't about fun. It's about being territorial and sticking that last air. It's about telling vals and southers to scram. That's what surfing is about, Charlie Brown. ( Hark the herald angels sing/Glory to the new born King)

Shark Hunter, some people like to cook, right? It's a hobby. While for some people cooking becomes there whole life. You choose not to shralp the gnar in the winter. Well, then you have to deal with what that makes you - a hobbyist who isn't serious.

You guys who think that the ocean and surfing is just another hobby to be done at your leisure are missing something. Maybe it's not part of your constitution. But surfing isn't comparable to golf or rock climbing. It is so much more. So much more. If one doesn't understand that, hey that's fine, but stick to lesser breaks and know your place.

If one is a hobbyist, hey that's cool. But don't think you deserve the same status as the dedicated. What kind of logic is that? You don't get the bone by putting in a half-arsed effort. Michael Jordan didn't become the fifth greatest basketball player/gambler by only balling during the summer.

People who aren't dedicated should not dictate anything in any subculture. Is surfing still a subculture.

By the way, let's you people not be too harsh on RISurfer. He's just a kid who is stoked. C'mon all you guys when you were young got amped seeing a picture of your crappy east coast break in SURFER or SURFING. Yeah, YOU ALL DID......you older guys who surfed when you were young.

    Texas has the best schools?

This is exact problem with the mentality of the people on this forum and why I have issues with people on here. It is about FUN. If you're doing it for recognition/ego then get the hell off the eastcoast. It's like being a big mountain backcountry powder skier and skiing wachusett. GIVE ME A BREAK!

If it's about more than fun, then get the hell off the ec and get where there's real waves and get a sponsor/turn pro. East coasters with an ego are posers. Period. Show me you and all these core matunuck surfers charging jaws....please.
It's more like their serious about having an ego.

I'm serious enough about having fun(the whole purpose), that I've considered moving. Why do you think I complain so much. Only thing keeping me here is family. That's it. Job/anything else can be gotten around. I'd be on the other coast for sure. I'm foaming at the mouth and can barely sleep before a swell. It's just a different way of being serious. They turn into an ahole with an ego and think their hot ****. I've seen people like that in the water. Their intolerable. Their in like chest high waves and their ULTRA INTENSE. Not even enjoying it. They flip out at the slightest thing. You'd think they were in a traffic jam. They remind me of little leage fathers to be honest. They've forgotten the whole point. Their the one's that **** all over bodyboarding as well.

Check my next post. It's there. And it's totally true. I've said that many times before. No it was last year or year before that he had a blog on this forum and a website completely blowing spots up on a daily report with pics. Worse thing I've ever seen.

Stoke/Fun may be the whole purpose but it aint fun when a bunch of nitwits show up with no regard to SAFETY or lineup etiquette. NOYA.
BTW, I'm moving to PA soon. Lived there before briefly as a yout. I've lived in Rincon, PR, Burgaw, NC, but most of my 5+ decades have been spent in South Jersey. Do you think I'll get treated differently at breaks I've surfed for DECADES because my license plate is PA? Do you think I will care?

Different topic and I agree with you on that.

Honestly, when you have 30+ people on a peak at some ri breaks, ettiquite goes out the window. Everyone just paddles for a wave. It's a destruction derby.

Yo honey, I've offered to show you how real I am many times. When you come back to New Jersey, I'll be more than happy to show you I'm not Za Gaffer. And contrary to belief, that is not an invitation to pug. I just want to see how certain people act in real life. That's all.

Fighting is stupid. If you are that angry at someone, don't fight, just shoot. That's how I see it at least. I only get that angry at people in positions of power. Oh how ironic, MIS.

And no I don't consider SI ADMIN positions of power. Small people on biased, ego trips, maybe, but no power, man. I'm talking about people like.......whoa !! almost started threatening politicians on here. MIS would be informing the FBI in a second. Yeah, he tattles on people( ok that's an opinion, I have no proof of that. See, I'm fair)

Keep reaching MIS....keep reaching for something.....anything..........

    Hey Shark Hunter,

You do realize that some of the most influential surfers in the past few decades are east coasters. I mean Brazilian midgets just love Damien Hobgood.

I did have sponsors many moons ago. ESA man.....yeah NSSA.....totally b!tchen.

Surfing is absolutely about ego. Fun is just a side effect.

Surfing's about being able to hassle that weird looking guy you have never seen at your spot before. Surfing's about drinking beer in the parking lot, yelling at dweebs who park in the LOCAL ONLY spots all the while, the local police smile and nod. That's what surfing's all about Charlie Brown. ( Hark the herald angels sing......)

We get enough waves on the east coast to be dedicated.....well New Jersey and The Outer Banks does at least. I think South Carolina might be flat, espescially when Jenelle's there.

Look, I know Rhode Island is frustrating. It's inconsistent and it's a bunch of very white kids who read about localism in a surf mag a few months ago. Yeah, I know it's tough eating crow when you have a Vanderbilt acting tough at The Dock. I know, these kids scare when faced with Ricans from Pawtucket. I know, it's frustrating.

Dude, let me give you a tad of advice. Most surfers are cowards. They bark a lot but they rarely bite. Rhode Island people particularly. Most dudes acting up in your line-ups would cringe and cower when challenged. Just remember that. 2nd Beach isn't North Philadelphia.

Shark, buy a 5 mil already will you. What the heck, man?

Cheap line to try to gain support of others on here. I'm an east coaster. Born and bred. I don't respect someone because of where their from, but by their actions. It doesn't matter where their from. You're just twisting my words with the rest of this stuff. I edit my posts all the time since I type things wrong and I think of other things I have to say after I hit post. There is no territorialism in ri. That's laughable. Why don't you stick to talking about areas you actually know? Surfing on the ec is not serious compared to the west. How big can jersey get? How big can the north shore get? and How often? Enough said. I say that full well knowing I'm going to get **** on by the ego crowd on here. I don't care. I'm not hating on ec surfing. Honestly I'm not ****ting in my own yard. I'm just being honest and I'm hating on the egomaniac jerks from the ec. Big difference.

Any pro's FROM the east coast quickly LEFT the east coast. How can you learn to surf pipeline while hitting up new smyrna? It's like learning to shoot guns by using super soakers. lol

Completely different way of looking at it. I so disagree with you it's not even funny. Surfing for ego. That's worse than surfing for "chicks".

I have a full winter suit.

Oh and I'll add even if you are from the west coast and you surf for ego instead of stoke/fun and you charge big waves, then you're still a douche and don't know what surfing/wave riding is truly about. You're truly missing out. You should be having the time of your life instead of worrying about recognition or what others think of you. Who gives a rats ass. It's just me and the ocean and my "crack hit" of taking that drop. Period.

Oh and RIsurfer has been nothing but respectful on here. The immature 14 year old's sound like the people cursing him out and threatening to slash tires and have sex with his mother. Really people? He didn't even take the bait and come back at you guys in an immature way. Good for you RIsurfer. It's sad when the person in his mid teens is the most mature person in the room.

Solid, SOLID post, as usual. However I actually have been in a golf course brawl before, me and couple buddies vs. a couple drunk dudes who thought it was funny to chip shots in our direction at the end of their round while we were teeing off. Needless to say it didn't end well for them, and we ended up driving away laughing hysterically because it all happened so fast. So yeah, some people do get into fights on a golf course. But i'm sure that's nothing to be proud of, but it happened.

And I'm not really immature. I get A's and B's in school and am in Boy Scouts and almost to the rank of Life. (Next one to Eagle). Which some of you guys may think is gay for some reason. But if I wanted to go to a college such as Mass. Maritime Academy, they would accept me 10x easier than they would someone who is not.
