Any chance that we will have clean weekend waves for central NJ? If so.. where is our best bet for a good swell?
Resources You can look at the maps for more detailed info regarding your "usual" break. Also the surf and swell plots give you detailed information about the swells size and direction that you can use if you know what works best for the breaks you are considering. I learned a lot from Swellinfo's video tutorials. I look at the information in the maps and swell plots before and after to gain a better knowledge of the breaks I usually surf. INMHO, I plan to try LI on Saturday and Jerz on Monday,,,tha'ts what fits my plans and according to my research might work best for my "usual" breaks. I will be keeping up with the updates of the forecasts and the maps, but sometimes you just have to suit up and go...
NJ swells and cams Hey there, I agree that since we've discovered swell info that it has been very helpful in predicting the best days to go out. What I also found helpful...however difficult to find is actual live surfcams that show the breaks. If you are going to say travel 2-3 hours away..that break better be worth the trip! The pics from the DE waves last week were awesome, that inlet is 3 and half hours away from where we live! I think LI might be a bit of a haul for us this weekend, any clean spots you know of in NJ? Ever surf "The Cove" at sandy hook?
Breaks to try out Never surfed "The Cove", I have it on my list of "to try" breaks... usually go to a place a wee South...I won't name it, but maybe one day I'll show you mine if you show me yours For now, I'll try my luck tomorrow (Saturday) in Long Beach. It's supposed to be kinda of warm and the NE winds might hold until 11 or so when low tide comes around. Monday morining is looking promising for N NJ, although windy & cold I live in Brooklyn which gives me equal access to NY & NJ coasts
New breaks Yeah I know we boarders don't give up our surf spots so easily... I just look at it as its all ONE ocean and we are there to have fun n share the love (well we hope) The Cove is probably the best beach to "try" someday from your location, because it is closest to you. Its a hard right break off the jetty, and on a *good* day You can get some great long rides all the way down the shore line. Good luck at Long Beach today, the cams were looking kind of grim in both NY and NJ today, though its still early! Looks like Santa will be bringing us clean waves forMonday and Tuesday though...so I am hoping for that now
