Wow this 6'6" guy is the real deal huh. Well 300k between him and his wife is nice but who the hell cares ..?

Sounds like he should post some videos of himself squatting or doing bench press then talk smack.

He's probably dead now anyways from being held face down at salsa brave CR, those local dudes mind.

Hey I'm editing my own post because some of da boyz have told me it's like a new (but maybe not improved) SI forum!

Wow what the heck happened? This place used to be a self-governing free for all. Now...?

I got an infraction for this? C'mon SwellInfo! Sorry I revived an entertaining thread that has been here for a (relatively) long time. Does this have anything to do with my shout out to NASA?

This could be good bye y'all. This post, this post right here, on the eve of a fat snowstorm in the south likely to bring waves, will spell the end of the KillaKiel on SwellInfo.

Dang it not you too Killa. I got one yesterday for reviving the old thread of how to delete your account and posting a few more jokes like others did. BTW the jokes were not vulgar or offensive. So we lose Sandblasters, Seldom Seen, PJB and Killa in a 24 hour period! Wow guess it is the swan song of the old SI.

Yes, its either tightening this up, or the forum goes bye bye.
We've decided to tighten up, and we have a bunch of moderators that will be applying the rules.
Please see sticky thread with rules. Thanks,

Okay so question about that statement.

In the past 2 months I have seen an increase in thread views and overall member participation. I search a lot of sites and now I see adds from Guitar Center, Sweetwater, Musicians Friend and a lot of oters sites I buy stuff from all along the top and side of my screen. Correct me if I am wrong but does this advertising money not drive/help the site? And if so would not having the large majority of your main posters leave/banned negativley affect that revenue? My point is when someone creates a thread that ballons to 15+ pages (even if it is from arguing) and it gets thousands of views, even those who state they dislike the content of that thread are gettign banner ads running based of thier past retail site visits. So would it not be in your best interest to allow this (while keeping threats, exrtreme vulgarity and racialy/religious/prongraphic,etc offensive stuff in check) to keep the hits coming?

I hope this gets answered and not deleted.

I can respond to this from my own point of view. First off I don't think I ever read a post of yours that I found obnoxious or hate filled. And I was never offended by some of the banned members or their posts. I did stop visiting after a while because I lost interest in 90% of the posts. I would come on to see the report and glance at the forum box and see the top ten posts were junk, like polls and various rants etc. Not especially offensive but nothing I felt compelled to reply to. There is a difference between a flurry of activity spurred on by negative energy as people feel compelled to return to defend themselves and normal sustainable discourse. I personally hated seeing some of those long winded rambling replies by a few members, they seemed a poor attempt at proving the posters offbeat brilliance than anything real or substantive. Again I never found any of it offensive, more like a boring sermon preaching to an ever dwindling audience.

It's about time the moderators get a hold on this place. I was getting
Sick if Yankee and carter acting like god damn clown trolls and posting unrelenting hate. Finally some justice to be dealt back to the problem members of this community.

Just look you even drove poor Wayne off the deep end and into a forum regression.. No on deserves to be exiled like that.. Well actually maybe Wayne does..
Yankee, carter, although you are my bullies and my mom says not to talk to bullies, you two are pretty solid trolls.

While I understand your statement it does not answer the question of how less clicks (regardless of what casues them) will impact the revenue stream to SI and therfore it's future. There are many here who even though they don't participate in the arguing read the posts and therfore once they are on the site banner ads are rolling and so is the $.

At the end of the day the almighty $ rules all.

Good point Rcarter, but with all the hazing I would assume the knowledge base of SI is less valuable so of cource the moderators wanna keep it valuable to make those advertisers happy

Oh yeah, sorry I didn't address that. I would imagine the need for civil discourse outweighs the $$. I know I have ways within my own business to make more money and I often take the easier less troublesome path and accept less revenue for the piece of mind. For me money doesn't always rule my decisions, and maybe it doesn't for the forum.

Valid point but typically the advertisers look at hit stats and views more than anything. The ads are not blanket as I'm sure you know so Guitar Center does not care so much if it advertises to me in a thread filled with hate, it just wants me to buy stuff.

What I'm saying is the following folks have left or been banned since Saturday morning:

    Sandblasters
    Seldom Seen
    PJB
Wayne (not that I'm crying over that one but still a loss)
    ZGaffer
    Pimpintraining

I am probably missing some but you get the picture, these were not haters like Yankee and me, they were not posting porn or hardcore vulgarity, they were just having some fun and now we have lost them and their posts.

Micah has stated before that the forum makes money via adverstising. My guitar forum (which is way bigger than SI, we have over 20,000 members) has a button you can click to donate and support the forum then the ads are turned off for you. I do not see that option here and that is why I asked Micah how it works.

retracR just you so you know... online advertisers are not stupid. yes they go to appropriate sites but they don't just blindly throw their clients money around. they do read forums and if its a junk site (like all those banned were turning this place into) they will skip it.
This cleaning of house was the absolute best thing to happen to this place.

I would much rather read so called boring threads punctuated by an occasional off topic post than one based on nonsense where an occasional real thread sneaks in. It was getting like diarrhea of the mouth, watered down nonsense without much substance. That said I wasn't complaining, I just wasn't coming on anymore. I figured its fine if that's what it's becoming just not for me. Also it's not difficult to become a top member if all the other potential posters refrain from posting. Ten people being banned will open the board to 50 people being willing to participate without more than a passing fear of being bashed. A little bashing = tough love a lot is just abuse.

See I guess that is where I differ from a lot of you, I think if a person has fear of posting on an internet froum becasue some one is going to be mean to them, then they must be scared as hell to leave their house each morning let alone get in the ocean! They are just words, you can ingonre them, they can not jump off the screen and slap you in the face. You can ignore members like I did Tunerfish and Charles and Roy at one point or not respond and the "hater" is not going to keep typing stuff for too long.

Like a few others said if this is what it takes to keep SI running then I am for that so I can check the forecast but seeing 1000 new threads on fin choice, wetsuit colors, and all the other topics we have in the archives is just boring.
