    Very good, congrats.
Now, let me give you a "heads up". Many new retirees get depressed--it is because they are going through a period of mourning. Something, on retirement, within them dies. Remember this--it has happened to many of my retired friends and a bit to myself as well. I worked 2 days a week for 6 months with a friend (plumbing) of mine until the blues finally faded. But be ready. After a period of elation to be done, it can slowly creep up on you.
But if I see you on a wave, I will drop in on you!!!

    Dude congrats.

Everything that Barry said. Take a couple months off to decompress and figure out your next step. But not too much time. You and the wife will start driving each other a bit crazy, no matter how much time you already spend together lol.

You'll soon discover a much more simplified and stress-free lifestyle, one that's predicated on surfing and family.

And you still have plenty of health and energy in your 50's, take advantage of it.

Man that is awesome, our time here is limited, spend your time doing what it is that you love to do. When that clicked with me is the day I set my goal to relocate from the Tampa Bay Area to Melbourne. I had a burning desire to make it happen and eventually all the stars aligned. It wasn’t easy and took a lot of risk on our part but luckily I managed to keep a job with the same company working Remote and I actually make more money now too! I say this to offer encouragement. Go for it and don’t look back!

I believe it. I’m still employed and work 40hrs/wk but I feel retired since working from home for over 2 Years now. I think I went through a little funk where I wasn’t all that excited about life even with surfing almost every day. I went from being the boss to being nearly forgotten about as I went off in my own little world away from the office. Took some time to adjust. I am always looking to get out of the house now lol
    Yeah man, me too.
