Hi guys - I used to be a member here a while back, but couldn't remember my info so I'm in with a new account..

Anyways - thanks to Bill we should have a fun weekend :D I'm going bodyboarding somewhere, but don't know where. I have a BZ little bruddah... It's taken me through double overhead surf in the OBX, so I'm thinking it'll be a good tool for this weekend :)

I'm in Connecticut and trying to decide where to go on Sunday. If I drive South to LI, I'm pretty sure I'll have better beaches, but that traffic on the island is usually INSANE on summer weekends.. Not sure if I want to do it..

But on the other hand, if I drive North to RI - we have colder water and maybe not as good breaks. But, it's a better drive, no tolls or traffic, etc.

Also I'm not familliar with RI - only place I've ever been is naragansett... So, what do the pros think? And if you guys think RI will be just as good, any recommendations on a good break?

Thanks a lot guys! And if anyone wants to meet up I'll have the sticky-icky :D

    Ride on

    Hey,

I say you pretty much answered your own question here, and you might as well go where you know vs. exploring places you have never been and risk missing the surf. Play it safe, put on some music in the car, and deal with the LI traffic. I am not taking any risks here and i'm driving 7-hours to ensure I score good break. I'll be out in Rockaway Beach provided the swell hits well. If you are familiar with the area, I am about a mile away from Riis Beach if you are looking for company.

RI. There are a few breaks (1 in particular) that could get BIG if all goes well, and it will get trafficky here too - down at the local shop they said they had calls from people that were flying in from cali.
The beach could get real big, but there are better breaks. I'll be riding with a couple friends. PM if you're interested.

I will be in the RI area gathering video footage. Going to be a sight to see for sure. Don't know if I'll be out there in the brute of it... looking forward to getting wet for some clean leftovers on Monday morning...

I'm actually looking to hit Belmar NJ. Been out there a couple weeks to a month ago when it was 6-7ft. breaking right at the jetty on 13th. I've never gone to LI but have hit many beaches throughout NJ and MD and from what I've seen this summer, Belmar will be breaking out furthest and will pose the best option for this size swell.
