are you a really small person? thats the only way your going to get to noseride that board. ive tried on 8 ft boards before but they just arent made for it. i can get one foot over the nose but the other has to be way back and it just looks goofy. im 6'2" 175 lbs

I'm 6'1 190lbs and an 8'6 is the smallest I can even consider sticking 5 out on.

I can't bring up the link for some reason but I have a 7'2 Walden Mini Magic. I am 6'2 200 and I can get some nose rides on it. I ride it as a 2 + 1 with a 6" center fin. Remember that when you put the center fin in the closer to the tail the more stabilty you get and the closer it is to the side fins the more manuverable it is. Nose riding on these boards isn't the easiest but you can. I would say a 7" fin should be a good fit.

Unless your light thats gonna be a stretch. The fin set up really does not make a longboard or a mini mal for that matter a noserider. Rocker, rails, bottom configuration, nose, & tail all make up a noserider. That being said - a longer fin with a wider base (pivot / hatchet) will help to stabilize the board for better time on the nose. I would also run a single fin when noseriding. This is what works for me. I have seen really good surfers get on the nose of boards that defies logic. I don't know how they do it.

I was gonna say all of that LOL

I would get a bigger board with some nice tail rocker and full to semi full rail. I use a 11 inch Pivot fin on my 9'10 and a 10.5 on my 9.8. I keep my fin a half a inch from the front of the fin box. I can trim very easy and work the nose very well .

heres a good read on nose riding . I helped my tip time alot

First of all, a word on the company, Isle... as I've mainly only seen these sold on Ebay. Having bought a new board to beat up from Ebay, they are really low quality, and fairly heavy and unresponsive. (it wasn't an Isle board, but all these low quality, low price boards seem to be made the same). So just keep that in mind.

I have tried an Isle board and it wasn't that bad. Similar weight as poly, maybe a little lighter even and pretty sturdy. I have an old NSP that a f-around on sometimes and the Isle was much better. My current go-to board is a poly Stewart. It's a solid board and Stewart is one of the classic longboard companies, but as I've learned more about the shaping industry I realize that my Stewart (which cost close to a grand) was probably shaped (or at least rough-shaped) in Asia, and since every shop wants to sell Stewarts, the shop that I bought it at probably made very little money on it while old Bill Stewart gets rich on the thousands of boards that his company sells every year.

As much as I love the glide, I'm getting sick of poly, as longboards are so easy to ding. For my next board I may go epoxy, and Isle doesn't seem that bad and certainly is cheap, especially compared to the surftech popouts that I see everywhere (and all the shops sell). Longboard fins are differnet to shortboard fins . A persons weight is not a factor when choosing a longboard fin. It more the size of the board and what you want to do on the longboard.

for some one of you size I would get a longboard around 9'0 - 9'4 and a 10 or 10.5 inch fin would work . Either a Pivot Fin or a flex drive fin with a wide base and a big rake with work well with noseriding

Hey Old Boy, you can still get Bill Stewart to shape you a custom board in San Clemente or Donald Takayama in Oceanside. If you want a good nose riding epoxy board hand shaped and completely finished in the USA check out Tim Nolte down in NC. His shop is about a mile of so before the Wrightsville Memorial Bridge to the Banks. He does it there including the vacuum sealed epoxy skin. Real nice guy to talk surfing with too.
