Sharks are so misunderstood...But it sure looks like he was looking for a snack.http://911surfreport.com/2014/05/13/great-white-spotted-off-sebastian-inlet/*DISCLAIMER - A quick search did not result in finding a double post but I apologize in advance if this video has already been posted.
Definitely a fake shark (either photoshopped or animatronic). Either way, start a Hello thread for your first post not a fake video.
No, this is real. It is this is the SAME video I posted over a week ago. It was a verified video off of CNN.COM. The color balance etc. does look different in this case, but it's the same video. I don't know why this NSB website is claiming that it happened there, because the original video claims to be in Jacksonville Florida. I will post the original link....
Here is a link from about 2 weeks ago. This is CNN. It was also hosted on foxnews, msnbc and every other news outlet in the country. I named the thread last week "You guys probably already saw this".... but I didn't see a thread about it. Here is much clearer video of it. It is missing the beginning footage from the other one, so that first fly by of the shark may have been spliced in, but here you go http://www.cnn.com/video/?/video/wo...rk.cnn&video_referrer=https://www.google.com/
It was no big deal, I don't even think anyone even responded to it. That's why I was shocked that I was the first to post it, and it was in the middle of the snark puffer days, so it got lost in the mix... But it was interesting that no body really made a big deal of it. If nothing more, it was an interesting watch... The headlines were all "Diver fights off great white shark in Florida"... The sensationalism at least had me interested.
Has anyone seen "Catching Hell" on the weather channel? It's about commercial spearfishermen on the Gulf Coast. Those guys are crazy. Guy was using his spear to poke a big ol' hammerhead that was trying to fck with his catch. He said he was letting the shark (much bigger than him) know who was boss. Another guy called sharks the Tax Man. He'd get an spooky feeling that the "tax man" was coming and head for the surface. They make good money too. One guy said he expected to make $500 a day. Not a bad for hanging out in the ocean or on a boat. Oh, one more thing for the spear fishermen on here. They all swore speared fish tasted better than caught fish. I'm sure they're a little biased and it's like asking a barber if you need a haircut. True, not true?
Had no idea dudes spearfished commercially...talk about sustainable, no bycatch, can focus on the taget species, that's great.
I bet there is some truth to this. If the fish dies immediately it doesn't have the ability to dump adrenaline, or the fishy equivalent to it, throughout it's body. There is a wild boar issue throughout the southeast I've heard it a handful of times from big time hunters that when they kill a wild boar the first thing the do is to castrate it so no more adrenaline, testosterone, etc. can go through the body giving it a more gamey taste.
MMMmmm....swamp oysters. I wonder if they're better fried, broiled or sushi style The adrenaline thing makes sense though.
Shark probably just knew that spear fishing with tanks is cheating and wanted to let him know he is a kook for using them. In several places around the globe the use of tanks is seen by regulatory agencies as non-sustainable for the ocean ecosystem and illegal.
Had my first fresh, local wild boar in the fall. A neighbor shot it in his back yard and he brought it to the restaurant I was running as soon as he shot it. Our chef butchered it up and we ate every last piece of meat on that thing. We hit it with a sick dry rub. It was really good. It's balls were intact, so I will make sure to give the guy that piece of advice next time I see him.
I've never had it. Does wild boar have much of a gamey taste? I guess it would depend somewhat on what they are feeding on locally.
