I didnt even read this whole thread, but answering the first question, I bodyboarded when I was a little kid and then only surfed from late highschool (after getting my license) up until two years ago. I hurt my knee real bad and could only bodyboard, and got addicted to the heavy closeout, shore break you can get into and come out unscathed. Some days I prefer to surf, but it has to be real good for the East Coast. I don't see myself bodyboarding in other countries though, maybe at one spot in Costa...

Sorry, just rambling, man I miss the beach.

I made it down a couple of weeks ago, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Some small leftovers, nothing special though. Send me a PM to send the pics...

speaking of controversy....lord knows I have started my far share over the years on some of the local forums.........so here is one to chew on, if you want to.

This is for those who do ride the foam...my question is how 99% of you even think you have any room to speak about much of anything? >>Same could be said of the Glass riders as well.......

As far as core foam riders are concerned, without a mistake I can think of only,>> less then 10 riders,... maybe a few more then that,.... who have any real ability at all. That being,>>> simply being able to do more then just lay on the board and make it down the line. Now some of the unknowns have started being able to get at those hollow sections with much more ease over the last 3 years? But really, when you look at some of the other websites, man, It is either those guys are retarded or they really think they are something which they are not.

I love to Bodyboard, and that is what I choose and prefer for sure, But even as much as i enjoy it, and consider myself to be experienced and being able to hold it down in any line-up,>>trust me, I will get more waves then you on any average day,>> I suck, really I do. I am so one dimensional,>> but I can with confidence say that I know I am way better at being one dimensional then so many of these others that seem to think so highly of themselves on a piece of foam. It really is starting to be a joke how so many go on about bodyboarding around here. Now that is starting to be reason enough to do stand-up, just to seperate myself from all the kids and all the others that have came out of nowhere as of late, acting like they have been here their whole life, and somehow are any good on a piece of foam at all, or at least good enough to give them room to talk crap. Itis not the case, plain and simple.

If you want to hate on the foam that is fine, if you want to hate on the glass that is fine, go ahead and hate on the the bodysurfers as well.

Here is to everyone who goes out and enjoys themselves regardless of what they ride, and does their best to follow the rules and get along with everyone else in the line-ups.

Anything else is just BS, in my opinion.....

    Calm

i mean i won't respond directly but i dont know where the hostility is coming from. I thought I posed that question in a very non-threatening manner, and i did so on purpose. Like I said curiosity got the best of me so I wanted some opinions. I'll even admit that in my younger days I had a slight apathy for bodyboarding once i made the switch to stand up.

    ......THEN I GREW UP!!!!!

So stop being defensive im not attacking anyone or anything, I just wanted to get people talking....which obviously worked.

I love doing both...I just love being in the water... I prefer to bodyboard for sure but there are days that are much more fun on a surfboard. People in OC mostly see me bodyboard so it's always entertaining to see the looks I get from them when I paddle up next to them on a surfboard.

I've never been on the 'bodyboarding vs. surfing' train...I'm more on the 'those who are respectful vs. those who are not' when I'm in the water. If you're swimming around with an attitude, I don't care what you're laying on, you're annoying me. If you're out there being respectful and having a good time, we're buddies.

    Joel For President!

Joel you have such a good attitude. One things for sure. If you find a good wave with just a couple friends when it is good, all of this sh!t talk is forgotten. Think about it, some people on here must have some real blood pressure problems. I think 48th street can cause blood pressure problems? There are only a couple of people in the delmarva area who can truely say they have put their time in as a sponger and standuper. Those same people charge and have been role models. Water men if you will! They set the standard in our community. Attitude or not, the ones who are considered great watermen can pick up a sponge, fins, hand board, belly, quad, thruster, longboard and just do it. Very often one can listen to Slater speak of flex and his ideas that he adopted from T.Morey. Rasta rides freaking rafts in some surf flics I have seen. I have a video of Shane Dorian bodyboarding and boosting an air. And lets not forget for all you kiddies who bodyboard without a true sense of the past PAUL ROACH kills it, glass or sponge. Kainoa Mcgee...same. Mailgro...SAME AGAIN! Anyways, start globalizing and ride what ever you ride and RIP THAT SH!T up for crying out loud. And if you don't rip, pretend you do? I am going to bed now. Good freaking night! Is this thread over now?

I pretty much packed in bodyboarding when I learned to surf. I just have more fun and catch WAY more waves. It's not that I wouldn't ever get on a bodyboard again, provided the right conditions, it's just that I spend enough time in the water on a surfboard and don't have much desire bodyboarding.

Nice little read Surfcrs... but I keep seeing people saying they catch more waves surfing than bodyboarding... I totally disagree!!! Being that I have stood up surfed for many years and just recently (within the year) started bodyboarding, I catch tons more waves bodyboarding than when I stood up surfed. I catch more waves than all my stand up friends and when I did stand up, I watched my good friend who got me into bodyboarding, catch more waves than any of us. Just my thought...
