Lots of Surf Heading for the NYBB Pro this weekend in Long Beach, NY!

Strong swells from both tropical storm Hanna and Category 3 Hurricane Ike will be moving into the NY coastline this weekend and promising to bring large surf to the NYBB Pro. Below is the forecasted path of Hanna from the Swellinfo.com Hurricane Center

On Saturday, SSE and SE swells from Hanna and Ike respectively will start filling in during the morning hours with 3-5'+ surf. This should build during the day with head to overhead surf coming through during the afternoon hours. Moderate onshore winds (7-15kts) on Saturday morning will be increasing late in the day.

Tropical Storm Hanna skirts right by the NY coast late Saturday night and into the early hours of Sunday. We are looking at large surf on Sunday morning in the well overhead zone. There is still some uncertainty in the winds whether they will be more NW or W for Sunday, but as of now we are looking for stiff (15-20kt+) NW winds in the morning become lighter and shifting more W through the day. The more N in the wind the better for the south facing breaks on Long Island, so lets hope this large surf will get organized for competition!

Good luck to all the competitors!
